    Hi all.

    I wonder if anyone can help me answer this question... which probably sounds rather dumb...

    I'm looking at building a couple of new sites but the niche is quite competitive with a lot of EMDs already registered.

    So if I was wanting to sell 'big blue widgets' I might go forb igbluewidgets com/ org/ net etc or even big-blue-widgets com

    However all these are registered. However virtually all the domains for 'bluebigwidgets' are available.

    Now I know this is not an exact match for the keyword term, but all of the individual keywords are present and I see that Google is good at picking out these individual elements in the search.

    The main keywords that I want to target will still be the core term ('big blue widgets') - so would there be much benefit to going for the domains with the keywords in the wrong order?

    If i want to rank keyword "bigbluewidgets" and EMD com/net/org are taken;
    I would go for big-blue-widgets /com/net/org

    If those are taken also, then I would go for prefix/suffix; bestbigbluewidgets or bigbluewidgetsrox
    (or you can even play around with singular/purals) such as bigbluewidget (no s)

    I just dont think 'bluebigwidgets' makes much sense.
    Its like trying to rank the word "internet marketing", flipping it around "marketing internet" sounds weird.

    If the EMD is taken then just make sure your key phrase is in the domain and get to work! Not quite the huge boost, but the boost is still there.

    Thanks for the replies guys. I agree with what you say and think I will try to stick with that approach.
