I'm currently trying to boost the speed of my Magento store (going through the long list...) and have been looking at AMP pages, has anyone tested, or are using these on their site? If so have you seen any improvements in onsite metrics and/or SERP rankings?

Cheers guys,

Hey man :)

I haven't a direct experience on e-commerce AMP, but I know something on that, so just one or two considerations:

1) Zalando and AliExpress are using AMP (or testing it at least), and AE said that they saw an important growth in conversion rate.

2) At this moment, you still can't create a dynamic cart with AMP, if I remember well. That means users can't change how many items are in their cart without restarting the checkout. In general, you can't create some of typical dynamic e-commerce's things that can help users and enhance your CvR, so I think that if you are planning to test AMP on a little e-commerce, that can really help your sales but, if in the past you have seen that special effects had an important impact on CvR, I wouldn't go with it.

About rankings: I think that, and I've seen it working on blogs and online newspapers, AMP alone can't be a ranking factor, but UX is. And AMP can have a big impact on UX.

Thanks for

Thanks for that - I think we are going to test on something like the homepage and one category page to see what happens and move from there. More importantly for us at the moment is increase the overall site speed as it's sat a 4 on the Goolge Pagespeed insights. That'll have a far bigger impact.

I waste my time with amp and now I struggle to redirect them to non amp.

Instead of loading more quick it makes for me the reverse way whatever I do.

Also most of the extra features will not work.

Maybe it's just me but amp it's a shitty project.

Really interesting. Can you talk about the website (type at least) and what happened?

Asking because I've never seen worse performance using AMP than traditional HTML.
