AmCody's Intagram + Amazon Journey to $60 a day!

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking around the forums for a while now and have only made a few posts. Mostly just reading and looking what is and isn't working for other members. I decided that I would give Instagram a go and will be using Amazon Affiliates to monetize my account. I have chosen my first goal of $60 because thats about what I make a day (after taxes) at my current job and I would love for this to take its place.

I am doing this all by hand with a single Instagram account since I don't have a bot yet. I am not sure if I want to continue using a single account or if I want to branch out and purchase a bot and run multiple accounts. I have signed up for my Amazon Affiliate account and am still in the process of building my WordPress website using Woocommerce for my shop. I have been running my Instagram for a little over a month now and I am at about 1,030 followers and am averaging about 100-200 likes and a few comments per picture I post.

Once I finish my website I will set up my Google Analytics and will post the link to my website in my Instagram bio. I am still trying to find a Woocommerce theme that I am actually happy with. When that is all set up and ready to go I plan on posting pictures of an item that is for sale on my Instagram with a special offer or something and then after a few hours I will delete it so that when people are looking at my page they don't see constant ads!

I will keep you guys posted on how things go. I am really excited to be working on my first IM Journey and hop to make some descent money with this method. If you have any suggestions or comments please post them. Would love to hear from the community.

Are you doing adult niche? And I think you have a good size following of followers man.. have you tried dropping some affiliate links yet?

100 likes on a 1k account is actually pretty good. With my 2k account I get around 60-100 likes if I don't comment or like other pics. Keep up us updated OP.

No, I am not doing adult niche. I don't want to disclose exactly what I am doing yet because if this works I want to scale it up a little bit. Maybe then I will release what my general niche is. I haven't dropped any affiliate links yet. I am actually waiting for my domain to transfer to my new host and don't want to release anything without an official domain. I am still setting up my WordPress website and gathering the products I plan on selling.

I will keep you guys updated on my method of obtaining website traffic when I get to that point. Right now I just have to focus on making my website look pretty and fill it with as many products as I possibly can!

Yeah, I am unsure how many likes I get without using hashtags since I use the same once in all of my photos. Right now I am averaging about 100-160 likes for my normal pictures and then there are a few that I feel are really good quality and those few have pulled 300-400 likes. At some point I will test and see how many likes I get without tags. I must be doing something right because a lot of people/companies are "tagging" me in their pictures. One company actually tags me in EVERY SINGLE picture they post.

How many tags are you posting per picture? Your likes count is pretty good.

I know instagram has potential but for me the only outgoing link being in your profile makes it hard to get good traffic. Others do well with it. I never could. I subscribed to your journey because I want to see how you handle this part when you get your site up. I hope you can get lots of traffic via the profile link. Maybe it all comes down to the niche and I just picked bad ones. Good luck!

Right now I am using 25 hashtags. I use the same ones for every picture so I can just load a picture and paste the tags and be on with the rest of my day. I believe the max amount per picture you can have is 30 so I could potentially throw in 5 more. I also use my IG name as one of my hashtags thinking that at some point it may catch on and others will use it as well.

I agree. I really wish that they would make an update where you could post links and allow people to click on them within the comments. I feel like this is a REALLY big draw back to Instagram.

My plan to tackle this problem is going to be to have my domain posted on my Bio Page but also listed with every picture I post. If you turn off the location settings on your phone you can use that additional space below your name for whatever you'd want. I will be using it to post my website url.

In the future I wouldn't mind branching out into possibly Tumblr or Twitter but for right now I just want to focus on Instagram. Once I get to that point it shouldn't be too hard because every time I post a picture I can have Instagram push it to Tumblr and Twitter as well.

38 new followers today so far and I added 3 new hashtags to my list.

Right now I am still working on my website. I didn't like the previous WooCommerce theme I was using so I switched to Oxygen. So far, I like it. Still looking for a few more products to push. I feel like the more I have the better!

I did get confirmation that my domain was successfully transferred over so now I just have to grind and get my website up to my liking! Hopefully will have that done by this weekend and will have a few more followers.

Did the usual for my instagram account. Today I actually posted a picture that included a sticker in it and a bunch of people wanted to buy it from me. Unfortunetly I wasn't selling the sticker BUT I did find a friend of mine that is going to make me them for $2 each and I am selling them to the people on Instagram for $5 each. A total of 20 have been ordered! This makes me feel like I am headed in the right direction. I am still playing around with my website. I want to make it all pretty and make sure that it is 100% ready to go before I release it. Shouldn't be too much longer!

Apart form hot girl pics what kind of pics I can post to grow some IG accounts? You know the kind of safe for work pics.

It is cool to have my own product (decal) but I don't want to really handle orders and have to deal with shipping and maybe even returns. The margin is pretty descent for not doing much but I think at this moment it's easier for me just to run the Amazon Affiliate products that way I just et a small percent and it can basically work on auto pilot if I ever achieved enough traffic.

You could literally post any pictures that you want that are SFW and still gain followers. In fact, what I am doing is all SFW. I would definitely pick something that interests you a little bit so that you don't get bored.

Here re is how I started out:
i thought of something that interested me and that I wouldn't mind looking at tons of pictures of. Let's say you choose to do dessert foods. Take some time to explore some hashtags and see which ones have a high amount of posts. #foodporn has over 37 million posts so that would probably be a good tag to use! Repeat this process till you have a descent amount of general tags.

Next go to other websites like Facebook or Tumblr and take some pictures of some awesome desserts and start posting them to you IG and use your general tags. Now you can even add more specific tags if you'd like to each one. You should start getting likes and a few followers INSTANTLY. Another great way to get followers is to comment and like other people's pictures. For dessert you could just post YUMMY! or THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS.

I have downloaded an app called Repost. This app allows you to take other people's pictures on IG and it creates a little banner across is giving them credit for the photo. I do this fairly often and people really appreciate you tagging them in things and they will follow you. It's also an easy way to get content and not having someone be angry because you stole their picture and you didn't give them credit.

141 new followers today. This is my new record for new followers in one day!

I did A LOT of work to my website. I added a page that displays my Instagram feed which I think is pretty cool. I got my shop all set up. It took me about 4-5 hours of doing custom CSS to hide things and make my theme the way that I want it. A lot of trial and error to change the colors of things, but its mostly done. I also set up my Google Analytics. Now I just need to get some more products and some high quality pictures to display.

I found another great source for pictures (at least for myself). I downloaded the Flickr app and am searching on there. The best thing about it is that mostly photographers use it so you can really get some high quality pictures from there!

More updates soon. Hopefully everything runs smooth. Also, I have replied to everyone who has messaged me on here. Thanks!

Update:
A lot has happened over the past few weeks since I have been absent from this site. I have definitely been keeping busy with my journey and have also started a few other things as well!

Instagram:
I am continuing to do the same thing over and over each day. It definitely gets a little boring but luckily its something that I am interested in and that keeps me going. I have made some extra money as well since my last update. My decals were selling like hot cakes and I sold out of them within 6 hours of posting them. I made some more and increased the price to $10 ($7~ after offering free shipping, not too bad). I received an order for 10 last night and that puts me up to $200 profit already! I am thinking about giving TeeSpring a try. Does anyone have any experience or concerns about using that website?

I am going to be starting 2 other Instagram accounts that are in the same niche, just different brand specific things. Hoping that I can scale this out a little bit. We will see.


Twitter:
I figured since I was doing so well on Instagram I would give Twitter a try. I made one and posted a picture of my account on Instagram. Out of 2,300+ followers I only managed to gain 3 followers over night and I don't think any of them came from Instagram. Twitter doesn't seem as easy as Instagram does, but you can post links which I think would be helpful when I start rolling out my website / shop.


Website:
I had finished creating my website with WordPress and at some point I managed to screw up ALL of my shop picture sizes/resolutions. They don't scale like they're supposed to, they are stretched, and some look blurry. I did a lot of actual code editing since I am familiar with PHP, CSS, and HTML so I am sure that I changed something and now I have no idea what I did.

With that being said I have decided to start over on my website. Why? Well not only because of the images part, but also because I started taking an online Marketing class and have learned a few new things so I want to change my website colors and change the overall look and feel. I figured the best way will be to just start from scratch. I will be using the same template though (Oxygen from ThemeForest).
