Amazon traffic question

anyone? is it like adsense in that I'll be earning all month and when it comes to paying out I'll someone will take a look and ban me? Hopefully will earn a few hundred $$ this month, but I don't want to be wasting time.

I don't know if amazon is gainst paid traffic but I can't think of a reason why amazon would be against it.
But to be on the safe side why don't you read through their TOS or just google it and try to find an answer.

Amazon updated their ToS recently to exclude shortened links, and anyone who sends traffic through them (bit.ly etc) will not be paid.
This of course is based on your sales volume. If you have a few sales, they will not bother canceling your earnings. However if you are making thousands, they will definitely want to know more about you and your traffic. Once they see the referrer is bit.ly, you will lose your earnings.

It is not that people cannot read the TOS...
they ask on the forum... hoping to get an answer like..
"yes they will ban you unless you do this.... "
they are hoping for a solution.
All shortened links, what about their own amzn.to links? Which bit.ly actually recognizes and changes it's bit.ly links to now..
And if I remember correctly, when signing up I think twitter was listed as an option for your marketing techniques.

Amazon is more worried about you making sales then where your traffic is coming from. They just don't won't cookies loaded in a users browser before they hit Amazon. They also don't allow pop traffic directly to Amazons site but they do allow it from your own landing pages or sites.
Amazon isn't as picky as Adsense and they will warn you before the ban ever happens.

OK perhaps I need to work on a more long term strategy, perhaps a site like thisiswhyimbroke might work..
My conversion is about 1.5% to 1.75% at the moment, but although I direct link to certain products, they very rarely actually buy that product although it is somewhat targeted.

The link has to be clear it's a link for amazon. So if bit.ly is converting to amzn.to then yes that's fine as that is their own internal shortlink system.
Also, read the rest of the page. Some interesting things including Amazon can deny you payment if you incorrectly describe the product, or if you have the wrong price, or if you advertise a promotion (15% off) and next week it isn't on sale anymore but people still buy, they can use that as justification to not pay you.
One thing I've seen is directing bit.ly to a landing page featured product(s), and then on that page (which would be your website), the links all go to amazon affiliate pages.

The Pinterest spammers are NOT getting away with it. If amazon has to pay someone $30k (he claims he does $1k per day) don't you want think they are going to MAKE SURE the affiliate is playing by the rules? Otherwise they get to keep that money!
When Amazon looks at his referring site, Pinterest, they will not pay him. If he keeps doing it, his account will get banned. Unless of course he is the CEO of Pinterest.com.
In sum: Anyone spamming on Pinterest with Amazon large-scale will not get paid. Period.
