I myself have questioned that having made a kids series and will finish in December with 9 books and only yet sold ONE book and believe me the artwork is the best artwork you ever saw for kids books and the stories too pretty unique.

I submitted to an agent just last week. However agents take fucking ages to ever reply if they ever do. Life is short you know.

Anyway, Talking about Potter I also wrote to the Author asking if she will license my mobile game HP cards for my drawing app.

Yeah I read the article. I wonder how Amazon holds on to employees? Does not sound like I'd want to stick around there forever. Also goes to explain the extremes Amazon will go to. This includes how it interacts with sellers and associates...

I have several friends who work for Amazon, at various levels. It isn't a great place to work, for many reasons. It's not the worst company, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It's very, very hard to advance once you are hired, unless you are a single male in his 20s with no kids, even if you're able and willing to work long hours, relocate, travel, etc. For those who are really focused on advancing within Amazon, it's best to leave the company, go work somewhere else, get a new title, and then reapply. Their HR people will even tell employees that.

No matter how hard you work and how much of the Kool-Aid you drink, they always want more. Their basic philosophy is to overwork people until they burn out, then hire someone else. Very few people last more than a couple of years there.

Fuck these corporations. I worked for a place that laid off a bunch of staff, and the owner's answer to a huge loss in morale was to hire this ex-Tony Robbins life coach guy who thought it was a good idea to put everyone in a big room with a pamphlet that had the company's 22 mottos on it. Each week, we had to read a new motto and talk among ourselves what it meant to us. They wanted us to do this for 4 hours. I said fuck that and didn't attend. Got reprimanded by my boss, the life coach and HR for not drinking the koolaid. I eventually walked out on that job.

The Amazon employees need to revolt.

Sounds like something many bigger companies does this days if they have a company where people can be expendable. Like in Sweden where it has become a really regular thing to hire people through another company so they can churn and burn them and then just let them off trough the back door when the company is finished with them. Probably there is alot worse out there in the world but still a pretty shitty thing to do.
