I know this is an old thread, but since the script is still out there being sold, I thought I might as well give you my opinion.
It comes with a couple stock templates which are very vanilla obviously as they have to fit into different niches. Overall the script appears like it should be okay, but on several different hosts, everything from resller hosting all the way through a dedicated box, the script also seemed to have trouble running it's update task to pull and post products. Now that could very well be user error, so take it FWIW and with a grain of salt.
Visually, I found FSB to be a REAL let down.
Basically if you want to create a niche-specific store you've got two options:
A) Invest yourself heavily in trying to decipher what should go where and how. This may not be a big deal if you have years of experience with php/css but if you don't - consider yourself warned!
B) And this is what the product really seemed to be intended for - you can pay them up to $150 or more per site if you want them to build a theme for you. Basically the sales side of the software seems dedicated to building the service side of their business. So, if paying $100, $150 or more for each store you want is something that sounds good to you, go for it. It's hands down the best way to go.
If you want to deploy sites quickly, at a low cost per unit, and still giving them some niche-specific styling, using a WP plugin is still the way to go.
Obviously with WP, you have a huge selection of pre-built themes you can use, or you can use a framework like genesis to do something really dedicated. On top of that, obviously WP has a huge selection of auto link building plugins, another big upside.
But the most compelling thing in these post-panda days is the fact that you can do all sorts of content cloaking with WP that really puts the final nail in the coffin for FSB.
So, I have FSB,
I hate it -> But I'm making bank with WP stores that I can build by the dozens, and on top of it, they still rank and have survived several panda passes now, all because of the framework that using WP as the CMS for the store allows.
If one day the dev gets his act together and builds a real usable interface to modify his stores appearance QUICKLY without having to put together parts of images, and deal with the mess it leaves, as well as drip-feed content cloaking, then FSB may have some future. But as of now,
FreshStoreBuilder is the worst Amazon related marketing purchase I've ever made.
