Just wondering whether someone could explain to me the process of selling on Amazon. I must be missing something very obvious, I mean say you have a book and it costs $5.00 with Amazon, and $5.25 from one of the other sellers on Amazon, how can they compete?

People might buy from them because of their rep/reviews over you.. I would pay an extra $0.25 from a somebody rather than an unknown nobody. That's how they compete.

No I mean the other way round, why do people choose to buy from a marketplace seller over Amazon when the price is more, the marketplace sellers are obviously there for a reason

It's likely they are coming from affiliate sites or other places recommending them. The price is higher, means the affiliate will get more for that sale.
Not everyone that lands on amazon thinks 'oh wait, I am going to shop around in amazon some more to see if I can find it cheaper' .. I would say 1% of visitors might do that, while those that were sent there, landed on that page, that's the price of what they need to get, it's from amazon so they trust it, so buy now they go.

I also have so many Questions with amazon seller account. One person named ahmed farhaz regularly call me from +353 12460951. When i tried to call back him call not conected. Means oneway call facility through he call me. I sent him a emails about i want to know more about seller related issue....and more other thing that a seller should know about ..but NOREPLAY Frm him..He said to me that if I want to list any product at amazon then I must passed through his permission.. Amazon sent me only two video about how to list a product and one other..about success stories... Thereafter he regularly forced me without giving any of replay about my questions ..to list product..!!!!??? He gave me only two categories Books and APPEARL.... and promised me to help me about getting permission to list. Different categories product . Is HE a legit person from AMAZON..??!!

Totally BS..I haven't been here for sometime due to my working with Amazon and eBay. There's quite a lot of people trying to make you work for them without them giving you any creditable information. I hope that I can give you some information which you can use. You don't need to go through anyone to get your Amazon Sellers Account open. There are many other categories that you can sell through. There are some that are gated and you need to get approval from Amazon but there are many categories you can sell through. I've been part of different selling groups but believe those I'm associated with now are genuine. I want to tell you how much I grossed last year but anyone can through out numbers. If your interested let me know and I'll give you as much help as possible.
