Have any of you started using 'Best xxxx 2016' yet?

Does it make any difference whether or not you use the year?

Depends on the niche. Adding the year can really add up in longtail volume for some niches. If it's a newer site, I'd start using it now. I started using 2016 a while ago.

I've seen loads of sites using it already.
Personally I do not use a date in any titles.

Many people are already using this technique, you can search with any keyword to verify it, no doubt its best strategy to get good traffic.

This really depends on the scope and depth of your site.
Some people go for specific events or seasonal stuff. Others stick with evergreen.
You can do either, ultimately it's your choice.

I would use '2015-16' or '2015-2016' -once the new year rolls around some people will still be searching 2015 so best to hit on both.

Ive done it on one of my sites, a kitchen appliance review site. Obviously all the articles were written with this in mind. Making sure the link didn't contain the year was important also

I use it very often for one of my site in very competitive niche...
New site in hard niche = all money earned just because of adding 2015 ( last year), it ranked just for keywords with 2015 at the end. So in my case adding the year makes a very big difference

2016 worth plugging in frequently or just have it on the site spread through some posts and articles? I have a few new sites/blogs I just setup and am trying to rank

i've started using it...it's the user I'm optimizing my content for mainly.
