I used to make a pretty good income from Amazon back when public blog networks like BMR were all the rage. Finding a good keyword is pretty easy because selling on Amazon is a snap.

You want something with enough search traffic. Something low enough competition you think you can rank for it (google it if you don't know how to judge this). Something high enough price to make it worth it. Last I checked some niches like electronics were capped at 4% but this can still be worth it if you're selling a ton of $100+ products.

And just use a bit of common sense. When looking at a keyword think "what is my intent if I'm searching this?" If you think at least a good chunk of the users are looking to make a purchase and it meets the above criteria then go for it.
