Amazon Listing Hijackers...

Fuck you..

I started doing amazon a couple of months ago and was up to 9k per month and had a few best sellers in a few categories then got fucked over when some started jumping on my listings and running down prices so low so we dick measured for a few price changes.

I started doing research, registering a trademark takes about 6 months to approve and have to hire a lawyer even then it's not even sure-fire to get these guys off my listings, so I guess I lost the battle. Time to find something else to sell or re-create my listings and add my own unique touch to them that they won't be able to send customers.

Just wanted to vent I guess.

If you're doing amazon and don't have a trademark or something unique to make your product stand out from the rest so others won't be able to steal it , then you should.

You can get brand register in gated categories for $500 and sending your samples to get approved.

I don't have a trademark yet, I looked it up and it takes about 6 months and that's if the form is filled out perfectly (which will take a laywer), otherwise it's another 6 months of there's a mistake on the form.

Yes, you need to file an official trademark in uspto.gov to get into new brand registry. USPTO makes this process easy. It will still take about 6 months before it's fully approved but you should be able to complete the application yourself in a few hours for only $225.

The trademark won't solve anything unless you invented the product, which I'm assuming you didn't and you are just outsourcing/dropshipping it from China. What you need is better marketing.

It will. When you are in brand registry you are protected from hijackers. If you are brand registered you can get him banned. Buy the product, take a picture, write to Amazon and show them he is selling counterfeit products under your brand.

He can create a new brand and still sell the same product? Brand comes from marketing, not because you registered it on paper. You still have to do that of course, but your customers will find you because of your efforts, they won't search the brand registry. My point is, you are always going to have copycats and competition if you are not selling a unique and/or patented product, that is INEVITABLE. So, in order to differentiate yourself from everyone else, you build a brand and that doesn't mean registering it legally. That's marketing 101!

I think you didn't understand OP. He was talking about hijackers. Amazon isn't Ebay where there are 100 different listing for the same product. On Amazon there is only one listing for one barcode (UPC) and all sellers are on the same listing but only one with the lowest price gets the BuyBox. That means, he invested money in the rank of that listing, good reviews, giveaways etc. and then someone jumps in with the lower price and takes all the fruits without any investment in marketing.

Totally agree with that.

I as a seller was offering oem produtcs that were trademarked ( not only by one seller but many , same product different brands ). At the end any in any bussness the key is to know what you are offering , you are offering a unique product? ( which will be hard as any product could be copied ) OR a product plus a guarantee that is not going to be a headache , guarantee that if fails you will replace the product and many etc...?

If you are doing the second part as has been said here your customers want to buy you not because your product but for the service, its like a trademark if even it is not official.

Blocking others ( sellers ) and obly buyers to buy the product only from you as a unique source is like a person that can not sum 2+2 and take to court people who can make squareroots.

Filter your competition by brute force it is why laws were invented, to protect the hierarchy .

I was i a position once to do what you said, register products, I agree that it is a very good option as your personality will be your characteristic impressed as extra in your products ( as i said, the products will be better ad have extra service ).

But that is also a big effort and time cosuming that it is goig to be paid back and you will scale as a good admirable bussiness man.

Do not think competition will end, competition is good is a plus and the worst the service on the competition the better for you. So that is why i will forget about filling complains about other sellers as they will reinevent a way to continue selling and this is lost time for you.


The big problem i see here is selling on Big platforms... WHY? CUZ hungry people have tools that scan this big platforms to find new ideas and copy they are like
vultures looking for last cent profit .

I suggest stay away from this big companies ( amazon ebay etsy aliexpress and many more ) they will give you big profits with no effort and time but on the other fold that visibility makes that competion will fuck you as quick as you dit take off.

This is my opinion ... maybe i am wrong and for sure i will be in many points as there are many factors to take into account.

And if you do not stay away the last hijacker will be the same amazon company...

Yes, hijackers are prevalent on Amazon. Sending them a trademark infringement letter works sometimes, but usually they just create a new account. You need to be brand registered to deter them.
