I published a few books on Amazon, and recently I saw my sales slump.
After some research, I learned that Amazon released its new A10 algorithm update earlier this year (April).

Part of that, I see, is that they reward social intent. A post that drives 50 clicks to a listing in a day can lift that book's BSR for a week, maybe?

Do any of you have experience with this?

If I did a social post, then I would pay for people to click through onto the Amazon page and hover there for a bit to show intent.
Do you think that would boost my page book's visibility?

Do you have any experience with the new update and any advice for what might help a book get listed higher?

External traffic can help Amazon rankings, but only if it leads to real engagement and conversions. Amazon’s newer A10-style ranking systems appear to reward signals like CTR, conversion rate, dwell time, and consistent buyer activity—not just raw clicks.

Ah, If we wanted to game the system, we would have to have them click through, hang out for a minute or two, and then actually buy the product to see any meaningful bump in visibility.

external traffic can help visibility if it’s relevant and converts naturally, but artificially forcing low-quality clicks is unlikely to be a stable ranking strategy over time.

Sending real visitors to your Amazon book page can help, but low quality paid clicks rarely improve rankings for long. Amazon focuses more on actual sales, reader engagement, reviews, and steady conversion rates. Traffic from TikTok, YouTube, email lists, and niche audiences usually performs much better than artificial clicks. Strong keywords, an attractive cover, and genuine reader interest still matter most for book visibility in 2026.

They probably want to push people to go viral on social media. It'll bring more external visitors and discourages people publishing tens of AI generated books without any marketing.

Thank you everyone for the excellent feedback and insight.
I am struggling with bringing traffic to my pages. But that's the biggest challenge in marketing, right?

Lately it feels like user engagement and content quality matter even more after the recent updates.
books with better relevance reviews and steady activity seem to perform more consistently.focusing on strong listings instead of shortcuts looks like the better long term strategy.

Amazon has gotten better at sniffing out botlike behavior patterns so you want it to look organic by making sure you vary the timing, dwell time and traffic sources so it doesn’t all look the same. mixing it with real social traffic from BookTok or reader groups helps mask it.

Hi

I think external traffic can definitely help, but only if the visitors are genuinely interested in the book. Random paid clicks with no engagement probably will not do much long term and could even look unnatural.

From what I’ve seen, Amazon seems to care more about conversion rate, reviews, retention, and consistent sales velocity now. Social traffic works better when it comes from niche communities or content related to the book topic instead of generic traffic campaigns.

You could try building small targeted traffic sources like Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, or niche Facebook groups and see which one brings readers that actually buy. Even a few real conversions from external traffic can sometimes move rankings more than a lot of empty clicks.

@web_riches From Years I'm selling Physical Products on Amazon not KDP but ranking algo is almost smilar for Both so let me share few points with my Experince.

On Amazon You Bring the Traffic on Listing using Amazon PPC or External Traffic (I Prefer PPC) > You Get Clicks (Your CTR) and Conversion . When we do the Search Terms Research using any Tool Like Helium 10 or any Other that give you the Idea about the Demand of that Product / Book, how many Units / Copies Other Top Sellers are selling, If Search Volume is Good enough and they are getting sales it means demand is there. And if on 1st Page any Seller is ranking with low reviews it means you can out rank that too taht's doable, Now you Plan you Launch accordingly.

As a new seller after listing Optimization for Amazon Alogritham, Your next step is building Sales Velocity here it comes Visibilty Point you Bring Traffic using PPC or External Traffic which Converts and as soon you start geeting Sales on those Search Terms you will start seeing organic ranks start improving and your BSR will also start improving. Also as new seller your Book will have low reviews so your Conversion will be bit low so you have to work on Increasing on your Reviews and Star Rating.

What i do for Brining Traffic is spending on Amazon PPC ads why because Buyers are already Typing those search Terms for buying one Product so that's high Intent Buyers. Here you have to decide on which keywords you have to run your ads you have to Pay to Play this game according to your Budget but Before making any Plan decide What's your Goal how many Units you want to Sell ? What's your Profit Margins so you can Calculate how much you can afford on Ads on Amazon or Off Amazon.

How many Review you have on your Book ? What the Search Volume of your Top 10 Keywords on Amazon ? How the Competiton look a like there Revenue and there Reviews ? After all make the Plan also attaching one H10 SC for you just Checked one Toddler Book Keywrods. I hope it will be helpfull
