Also, you would not want to have affiliate links above the fold.

Some sites have way more than 10 affiliate links - and Google doesn't seem to care about that right now. But you never know when things might change.

I wouldn't nofollow every outbound link - only affiliate links. If you nofollow every outbound link, you are in essence telling Google you do not trust any of the sites you link to - and that isn't a good signal to give Google.

Follow up question, by above the fold you mean above the h1 or h2 tabs right? The way I am setting up my site is an essential item list and they items flow naturally into the content. However I have like 50 Amazon items, do you suggest breaking them up into multiple posts like a Part 1, 2 and 3?

"Above the fold" is what a user sees in their browser - without scrolling - when your page first loads.

Google does not like affiliate links and ads in this area.

This is kind of sad as this is the most profitable area to put ads and affiliate links. Back when making money from AdSense used to be very easy, webmasters would have at least 2 - 3 ads above the fold, followed by a crappy 300 word article. And they would have 50% to 70% CTRs.

Do that now and you will be asking for trouble

I have never tried having 50 affiliate links on a single page. I do not know how Google would react to that ... but IMO, they will not be very pleased.

You might want to ask someone who has tried having that many affiliate links all on a single page - and is still ranking at #1.

You can use as many links as you want, however, if it looks natural. Otherwise, NOT!
Content should be big as well while the quantity of affiliate links are increasing
