Hi all,

I've been having some success with twitter recently and I'd like to know (very roughly, many variables I know) how much in your opinion I'd be able to make if I could generate 30k clicks from my twitter accounts to US amazon monthly. These are people who do have an interest in the product(s). Probably have a much lower conversion rate then a review site click but I'm hoping to take advantage of the 24 hour any product cookie window.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :-)

That's too generic to answer honestly...BUT....if you take a basic 3-4% conversion rate that would give you about 900+ sales of "something" per month. I doubt you'd get that high though unless you're a bit more targeted. Average sale of $20 with 7% commission would give you $1200+ of income. VERY GENERIC estimates there. But it gives you an idea.

My conversion rate varies between 3-7+% in any given month. Of course Christmas shopping months are on the high end. You have the right idea about taking advantage of the 24hour cookie. People buy the strangest shit! Probably half of my sales are NOT what I'm targetting. Some make sense (buying shoes when shopping for dresses, etc..) and others are like, WTF? But it's all money so you just take it and run.

Best of luck to you.

Are you allowed to post your affiliate link on Twitter?

Pls recheck their ToS.

BTW, Twitter traffic sucks for immediate sales.

Thanks for taking the time to reply buddy. Some interesting things to consider there. I'm going to give it a mini trial before I invest too much time into it. Do you/anyone know if they have a minimum conversion rate requirement? I.e you send 10k clicks and make 1 sale they'll close your account because they think your traffic generation is probably too spammy?

I don't think so, as you will not earn from traffic that you send, only from sales.

Never heard of anyone getting canned because of lack of conversions. Fire away and send them over. I'm telling you people buy the CRAZIEST shit on Amazon!

Your best bet is to try it out.

In some niches, I get 1k clicks daily and I was getting about $50-$150 per day.

And in other niches, I barely got any sales after 10k+ clicks.

So it really depends how motivated your users are when it comes to buying stuff off amazon.

Probably like $70-$200. :) Just depends what you're promoting and what people end up buying.
I have some experience with Amazon and Twitter... Let me know how far off I was.

ALSO....It always seems to me that Twitter generates "clicks" that aren't really clicks, ie, when it loads up the special Amazon "Twitter Card". I think Bitly click numbers are more accurate, but that's an offhand observation.

EDIT: You want a tip on the "only" thing NOT to do???? Never ever ever make a Twitter account with "Amazon" in the name.... I was just recently banned from Associates right when I was starting to do good, unfortunately.

Ha yeah that's a good tip, they do seem very protective of their brand and rightly so I guess.

I've started my mini trial at the moment just driving a few hundred clicks per day there. I'll post the conversaion rates in a couple of weeks when I've sent close to 10k ish :-)

This is a pretty interesting thread. I've been doing lots of twitter lately; I would say around 1 - 3% could be expected. But it can always go up or down.
It's pretty random. Some days you can't make a sale and then you make a bunch in a day.
Very interested in hearing your stats.

That's not a bad rate really. How targeted are your tweets?

Well I let my twitter accounts grow naturally or I follow users from a specific user (based on the niche). So pretty targeted.

well I've driven 2k twitter clicks to amazon so far and haven't had a single sale! :-(

Does anyone know if the sales show up next day when the clicks are updated?

Yes that's correct. Sales and clicks aren't updated until early in the next day. For me, it was after 6 or 7 AM each day. You won't receive any commissions until the item ships out, too, so be aware of that. Are you using the UK Associates program? It's pretty much the same, I am just curious though because your location says UK. :)

Yep uk based :-) I've sent 3k to various products now. Probably 4k actually by the time the stats update tomorrow. Zero sales which I find weird considering the 24 hour cookie!?

Think I can safely say now that Amazon isn't a very effective way to monitise my twitter niche. Will update final results tomorrow afternoon. I doubt there will be much to celebrate. Although I have some new ideas for what I can do with the traffic :-)
