It's incredibly variable. Even before when site 1 was established in the SERPs I had days exactly like what you're saying. A large factor I noticed is that the visitors can be from countries you aren't targeting (outside the U.S.), so you don't get credit for them going to Amazon. A 'fix' for this is installing the Amazon Link Engine plugin that localizes the links for the visitor's country, and you get credit for the sale. I never verified if this is okay with Amazon's TOS as it modifies the URL of all the links on the site, so keep that in mind before trying it. It did drastically increase my clicks though. (Turned it off for now until I know it is safe) Congrats on your success btw, keep pushing!

Another 0 click day, which at this point I guess is par for the course. One site slightly over a month old and two that have only been established for a little over a week.

SEO takes a long ass time and I'm not trying to rush things when all of my sites are so new. However, I still want more because even without SEO they are capable. Meathead's recent Amazon thread is proof of that. My current focus is content for my third site and improving my social media presence for all of them.

Site 1 did have a KW come in at 30 from not ranking at all, so I'm happy about that!

I added another small page to site 3 today, as well as installing a better looking sharing plugin on all the sites. Twitter experiment is leading to some traffic, getting decent engagement on my posts there. Also improved my keyword density on my home page to be on the safe side, I think I tend to accidentally over-optimize it.

Pinterest broke 1k followers today! Took a little bit longer than I would have liked, but made it there all the same. I'm adapting my strategy to be less promotional because I think that's held me back from growing faster. 2k will take less time to reach.

From one Amazon affiliate to another, good luck with your quest. I think Amazon Associates is one of the best IM gigs going.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is near Christmas time for us Amazon affiliates. People spend crazy money at that time of year - diamond pendents, TVs, top range cameras etc. I know of one guy who reviews cameras for Amazon, and someone went from his site to Amazon.com and bought a ride-upon lawn mower for several thousand dollars!

The phrase of the day is social media. Although I did some minor site work, I mainly focused on growing my existing followings.

I have joined three niche forums for site 1. Going to use Meathead's forum posting method, for details check it out here. If all goes well with it I will do the same thing for my other two sites, it really takes no time at all. Tomorrow I am going to use my VPN to post questions from new accounts across all of them, should be interesting!

In addition to that I am pretty much throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks with other outreach methods. I have a feeling that the forum posts will drive more traffic if they don't get taken down, so that's why I'm not really going into specifics here. Just testing whatever I think of.

The questions were posted/answered on the forums using the dummy accounts today. I took a pretty aggressive approach with this using such new accounts, but I was so eager to try it I didn't care. Worst case scenario I remake accounts on a proxy and do it again. Looking forward to seeing if I get any traffic from it.

Site 4 has arrived. But it's not an Amazon site! It's a Clickbank site.

A while back I had a decent amount of success with CB, but got lazy and didn't like the niche I was using at the time. This time around I am using a niche that I am very knowledgeable about, so it should be more enjoyable. I will be promoting it all over the interwebs via commenting. I'm not giving up on my other sites or anything, here's why I decided to do this:

• Low start up cost - just a domain name
• Social media maintenance (including Pinterest) takes maybe 15 minutes daily, scheduling posts for a week only takes another 15 minutes
• Doesn't rely on SEO - while I wait for my sites to rank, I will not have to with this one and can start cash flow MUCH faster
• Writing a new article for an existing site only takes 45 minutes at the most (including editing / posting)

Took me a little over three hours to totally set up, most of that was spent on content. I'm pretty happy with the theme I chose and how it looks overall.

Plus I just want more on my plate while I wait for the rankings to settle on my existing sites. I am not building backlinks since they are so new, and I already have web 2.0's ready to point at them in two weeks or so.

I am also testing a plugin for email optins on the site. It's something I've always wanted to try, and if I can build an email list that could be a great source of recurring income!

Reporting in on my forum experiment: brought me some clicks! Not a ton (4), but after 3-4 days of 0 clicks I'll take it. Other sites also got some clicks which was nice. But no sales! Again, to be expected until the sites are ranking and bringing in more traffic.

Social media is chugging along on all of my accounts, it's basically on autopilot. Steadily gaining followers.

CB site impressed me. All it takes is one good comment to send a chunk of traffic, more than my other sites got today combined. I feel like sales will come within the week.

Also changing my outlook on my current sites after reading a post here and a lot of thinking. Rather than continually create sites that don't get the support they need to grow, I need to focus on what I have and making them the best they can be. Content and social media wise. Let's look at a big hypothetical situation to illustrate this:

I might have 8 - 10 sites pulling in a measly $500 a month OR I could improve my existing ones and potentially take them to $3000 a month. And I am sure it actually be more difficult to build the 10 than just managing the ones I already have.

I basically doubled the word count of an article I have on site 1, fixed the formatting, and added a table. That article was making a ton of sales prior to resetting the site, and I guarantee it is going to make even more in the future because of that! I'm going to continue this process instead of making new content until each page has been improved. (25)

Still seeing some small traffic from my forum posts which is pretty cool. Brought me some clicks, but no sales.

Refined 4-5 articles on site 1 and it leaves me wondering how this site converted at all in the first place. So many of the articles look good in the editor, but when they're actually rendered on the site they look like shit. My CTAs (call to action for new people) weren't near as good as they should have been, article structure just goofy in places. And I didn't throw these up and never look at them, I have edited all of these in the past. Main KW is ranking for the top 5 for Yahoo and Bing, so I'm hoping to see some traffic from that! (The Google ranking still blows.)

It was my first successful site. Now that I have built more sites, I can look back at it and see all the mistakes I made from a lack of knowledge. Never stop learning and improving your sites.

Social media is trucking on, I scheduled a week's worth of posts for two of my sites. Steady growth on Pinterest.

Posted comments throughout the day for my CB site. That sale will happen!

Wrote a supporting article that will help conversions as well for the CB site. Sometimes scaling isn't just posting more comments.

Site 1 refinement continues, some KWs are starting to do the dance from my updates which is great.

Still doing all of my social media tasks and keeping up with Pinterest. Things are consistently slow, but I won't ignore a source of traffic.

Keeping this one short because formatting is broken right now. Things are starting to look better.

I know that my CB site converts, it is just a matter of getting traffic to it. Comments are surprisingly random in terms of which one will actually get some traction. Thinking about setting up a YT video for it.

Finished fixing the formatting on all 26 pages of site 1. Man there was nothing worse than coming across pages that haven't been changed much since the site was put up, supah primitive. It's already showing KW movement like I noted in the previous post.

My next goal is to improve site 2 both in formatting and adding 500 - 1000 words to certain pages.

I've seen it posted here before that Reddit traffic doesn't work well and after seeing yesterday's results, I'm inclined to agree. I've been replying to relevant comments with a link to site 1 whenever I can. Yesterday apparently one took off and got me 36 clicks to Amazon - and 0 sales. Wow.



Only added a little content and fixed some formatting on site 2. It's not nearly as bad as the first one was, but it isn't ranking as well as it should. I think this stems from two main factors:

• Backlinks
• Lack of content

I wanted to give it time to see where it settled from the press release, and I don't think my KW choice was good enough for that to do much by itself. The web 2.0s I created aren't showing up in in the backlink profile so that needs to be fixed.

I also want to gather at least 20 low competition keywords to write about. That will effectively double the site's size.

Made a ton of comments today for the CB site. Topped the past two days in visitors, and even getting a few returning which means people must have bookmarked it. So far all I have in mind to expand my outreach is a video, but I'm trying to think of a good sales pitch if I go that route.

My Twitter experiment is hard to tell if it's worth doing. Obviously in the short term, 500 followers across my accounts doesn't mean anything. But what if in 6 months that figure turns into 10k followers? It's hard to imagine that not helping, so I'll keep doing it.

Pinterest is basically on autopilot. I'm in a phase of unfollowing, but growth is still steady. Following a shitload of people is a waste in my opinion.

24 clicks to Amazon (23 for Site 1) - 0 sales. Womp womp womp. My referral traffic is doing very poorly, I assume it is still trickling in from that Reddit comment. It's annoying because if I got the same amount of clicks with SEO that would be guaranteed sales. Oh well.

I wasn't in the mood to write, but I still managed to put together a 500 word article for site 2. Some days I can do 800-1000 fairly quickly and some are like pulling teeth.

Clickbank site traffic is doing very well. I can tell the next sale will be soon and as traffic grows they will get more consistent. Everyone likes pictures, so here's a graph:
