If someone has a VERY unique last name, and had their account permanently banned a long time ago...Then opens a NEW account of a family member with same VERY UNIQUE last name, will A.mazon, FeeBay, or GayPal ban you for being "linked" to a banned account? All the info for the new acct would be different, only similarity is very unique last name...Besides that, what factors would cause you to get linked to that banned account?

This question is for A.mazon but I would like the answer for FeeBay and GayPal as well. Any help is appreciated

I've actually never heard of anyone getting banned from Amazon, however I have been banned (several times!!!) from GayPal... And I think once or twice from DweebBay.

To apply for a new account, I've had absolutely no problems using the same name (first and last), same mailing address, and the same IP address. For GayPal, you cannot use the same bank account or credit card linked to the banned account. However, for your new account, even though you may have the same name on your bank account and credit card - they will be accepted if you use a different bank account number and credit card number. If your banned GayPal account had your Social Security Number linked to it, you won't be able to your Social Security Number (an SS number is necessary if you need to accept payments via Paypal, not if you need to make payments through Paypal). You'll have to use someone else's SS number.

Another tip: When checking SS numbers, Paypal uses the Dead Man's List (sorry, don't know the official name, it's the Federal list of social security numbers belonging to dead people - this is very important to know for those doing the whole paper trail route with Birth Certificates, etc). They check the SS number against the name, however they don't seem to check against a birthdate. Each SS number is allowed two Paypal accounts - one personal, one business/premier. They only accept personal SS numbers, not tax ID numbers.

For DweebBay, the only different thing I used was a different email address for signing up. I used the same name and mailing address. I wasn't banned per se, however, I owe them like $40 and I seem to keep forgetting to pay them.

It's easy to get back in....just a new email, ip and new address etc...don't think they check ip but you can change that too if you want. Amazon is the easiest one to get back into

I'd venture to say that half of the members here have been banned from Amazon at least once :p. It is really easy to get accepted back though, so it shouldn't be too much trouble... just be more careful with your BH techniques this time.

Thanks guys, also, a while back I was selling multiple items, maybe 10 or so electronics, and my P.aypal account was limited quickly for "high risk activity" or something along those lines. I guess because I had just signed up.

I was asked for a bunch of documents to fax in...This was about 2 years ago and I don't remember at all what I was asked for, does anyone know what those documents are? I think one included proof of inventory.

Is there any way around them limiting my PP account in the first place? I guess just open a business account? If so, what documents will I need for that?

They ask for no business documents initally. After you start pushin a few $k monthly then they ask, or so I've heard.

Amazon will suspend if you reopen using the same computer. - Best bet is to use new computer using totally diff info and ip.
If you use the same computer - it will take several tries before you finally create a new account with new info.

Oh - dont forget to clear your cookies and the flash ones too.;)

Once your account has been limited by Paypal, you are "officially" on their radar. When opening an account (especially a business/premiere account), if your account has ever gotten to the point of being limited and then being subject to a review by staff members... then your account will be continually monitored.

I've been able to open several PP accounts without sending in any documents whatsoever. I've had sales per account go up to $8,000 per month. I always do the following:
    - Resolve disputes immediately. Do whatever I can to avoid any reviews by staff members. Stay away from transactions that can be flagged by PP filters as being "suspicous" (this includes several sales from the same vendor, several returns to the same person, etc). I limit my PP transactions to those that are absolutely necessary (ie, I NEVER make purchases from my PP account, only accept money).
    - When I make a sale, I IMMEDIATELY withdraw all funds. I have one bank account associated with each PP account. This bank account exists for the sole purpose of use with the PP account. After transferring funds from PP to my bank account, I immediately withdraw all funds from the bank account (WAMU account, I keep $10.00 in the account at all times, never more). Always keep your PP balance at $0.00.
    - If making a sale of more than $500, ask the buyer to split the money between more than one paypal account. Always stay under the radar. If you are having trouble doing this, then you should really have your own merchant account. Remember, PP is a private company and NOT a bank - they don't have to follow the federal laws governing banks. Have your larger sales processed through your merchant account.

Again, problems tend to occur when your account activity is flagged as suspicious and then reviewed by PP staff. That's the time when they'll ask you to fax in documents. Regardless of how many documents you fax in to them, it really won't help you.

They ask for proof of inventory for specific reasons:
    - As an eBay-type business, they want to make sure you're not selling stolen or counterfeit goods.
    - They want to make certain you are actually selling goods, as opposed to simply transferring money (something about anti-terrorism policies) around.

When handled correctly, I've never had to fax documents in to PP to maintain a business account.
    - The only times I've needed the business documents were for opening the dedicated bank account. I paid $120 (in NY) for a business DBA certificate and then opened a bank account using the certificate. If you need to open a bank account under a different name try using the "Trust" method. Open a trust account (with the proper trust documents filled out, pretty easy, just email me for details and samples) - let's call it the "John Doe Trust". Your bank account is then opened up in both your name and the name "John Doe Trust". When filling out credit card information, etc, the bank will accept the first two names of the trust (First name: John, Last name: Doe). This does NOT seem to work with business/DBA accounts as most venues require you use the personal name associated with the account.

Strangely, PP doesn't seem to track IPs. I've used the same computer and IP to manage up to 13 PP accounts at a time (just to see if I could). Also, I am from NY so the place you come from may make a difference (there are tons of people living in the same building in NY, sharing the same IP).

The "quality" of the social security number you associate with the account seems to be the most important aspect of what they'll let you do with the account. If you have poor credit, or have had problems associated with a particular social security number, then you'll tend to have more problems with PP. If you use a social security number with a better credit score, and/or a "clean" profile, it's pretty amazing what PP will let you get away with.

    Home Page:
I have been banned from amazon a few times. I also have 9 accounts going at any moment so I have messed up before and logged into a couple of accounts without any precaution (such as changing IP) and those accounts were both closed a week or so later.

My original account with amazon was banned which had all my real info. I later signed up again with the same info and ran for almost 3 months. They then closed my account a week before payday and didn't even send an email to let me know.

You're a champ. I started off my online business with Amazon before moving to eBay, and I will say that Amazon, hands down, has the WORST customer service EVER.

I had 2 completely new pcs, cleared all information, new IPs, under someone else's name entirely (friends and such, not family members), and they shut down 2 new accounts I had made. I got my friends to call up there asking WTF, and they said they cannot speak about that. When asked to speak to their manager, they said that the manager doesn't take calls. We called literally every single department trying to get a hold of someone to even tell WHY, with 0 luck.

It was the worst case of runaround I have ever dealt with in my entire life, and I still have no idea to this day, to why they banned both of those. My best guess from other people's dealings is that we listed too many items too fast within creating a new account.

Anywho, /rant, basically trying to let everybody know that even though eBay sucks, Amazon is worse.

So after reading so much in this thread... the idea is still not that clear. After getting banned, these are the things we need to apply for a new account yea?

    - New Name
    - New Address
    - Different PC
    - Different IP

Are these 4 essential? Another thing that if you are in their associate program, and you used new name, how are you going to receive the payment if you are going to get a cheque from them?

Do you guys close your old/banned account? Or you just leave it there?

My seller account has been suspended because I cancelled all of my orders except for one when my account came under review. Amazon states "If you wish to appeal this decision you may do so by following the instructions in Your Seller Account. An appeal should include a clear plan of action that addresses all reasons for failure to perform; including but not limited to your inventory management methods, your fulfillment practices, and customer service improvements. Appeal requests are usually responded to within 24 hours."

Has anyone had a successful appeal? If so what should I tell them? If I am not able to reverse their decision will I still get paid gor the item that I shipped? I'd rather reinstate my current account than attempt making a new one.

Has anybody did a Evaluate your selling practices and create a Plan of Action for Ama$on to reinstate a account?

If your selling account has been suspended or blocked, you may be eligible for reinstatement. You can appeal our decision by providing our Seller Performance team with a detailed plan of action for correcting the problems that have contributed to this action.
