Just reading the changes to the agreement and was wondering how you are all interpreting the following...

We added requirements that your Site must not have price tracking and/or price alerting functionality (unless otherwise agreed) or use Program Content to refer to sites that are not Amazon Sites.

I think it means you can’t use those plugins that alert users when the price has dropped. I know some sites use plugins that also tracks price trends of products like how much a certain product was last month and compares it to present time. Not really popular but I’ve seen it.

I could be wrong though. Hopefully someone can correct if I am.

^ I was referring to the part at the end which I highlighted referring to program content.

So let me get this straight, if you want to use amazon affiliates you can't link to any other site right? Amazon wants your whole traffic?

Yes, (any other affiliate sites) that's exactly what it meant. Adsense might be an exception, though.

Thread moved.

The balls on them man.... I guess it's time for us to move to other e-commerce websites and have a higher comission too!

I stopped Amazon associates program and started applying for other e-commerce platforms, they have too many rules for way less commission. They're being arrogant that's what they're doing..

After reading the sentence about 20 times over my best guess would be that it means you are not allowed to use Amazon content but then link out to another affiliate. For example using pictures and a description of a lawnmower from Amazon but then link out to say Wallmart?

The words don't really make sense in the context of the start of the sentence so I don't know why it wasn't written as a separate bullet point.

They can't surely mean no linking out to other sites ANYWHERE on your site as this alone is necessary for SEO.

Have you tried contacting their support and asking them about it?

Ahhh sorry I was on mobile last night and didn't notice the highlight haha. Anyways I think it means what you said. If you're using Amazon pictures, videos, or any content from Amazon, then it must be used to link to their site. I'll ask them tomorrow to confirm though :)

Cheers, if you could post an answer here that would be appreciated.

Yeah that's fine! My site is all up to date so I don't care if they audit me lol If you don't hear from me, please quote me or something incase I forget lol

Important thread for me as I have outsourced my site so need to ask the seller about this!

"Program Content" are the key words here.

So you can not use content provided to you as a part of Amazon Associate Program to link to other websites.

For eg if you do a price comparison between various sites including amazon with respective website links.

That's not allowed.

@ThisSwordfish did you contact Amazon in the end?
Yes! Sorry forgot to report haha

Anyways like mentioned above, you cannot use what Amazon provides you for other purposes that are not amazon associate.

So for example, let’s say you use a picture from Amazon but linked it to another site. This is not allowed. If you use woocomerce plugin or something, you’re typically fine as long as it links to amazon.

So basically, if you use anything that Amazon provides us associates, you need to make sure it benefits them in some way such as linking them. I asked them if it would be okay if we cite them such as I use their picture and their description for a product and said I got the content from Amazon but didn’t link to them. One guy said that’s okay; however, another said no so that’s an iffy rule.

Hope that makes sense!

Let's say im using sitestripe for images. but i also link out to other affiliate programs through CTA buttons. does this a violation?
