Amazon Associates not counted on Tumblr

FYI. I seem to have noticed many comments recommending to use Amazon Associates links in Tumblr blogs. But here is an email I just got from Amazon support:

"The Amazon Associates Program does pay advertising fees for qualifying sales generated from social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, but no longer Tumblr or Instagram. In fact, we offer a "Share on Twitter" and a "Share on Facebook" feature via the Associates Site Stripe."

Another email from Amazon: "I'm sorry for the confusion on using our links on the Tumblr site, allow me to clarify. Using our links on Tumblr is within our policy for you to do, however the reason we state we don't accept Tumblr is due to Tumblr's terms of agreement stating that you can't post affiliate links through Tumblr. As a result of knowing our links can't be used on that website, we stated that it isn't allowed, as we would be forced to reject a new application submission which included the Tumblr site on it."

So, it seems Amazon won't accept referral links in Tumblr blogs. This surprises me after seeing the recommendations to use Associates/Tumblr together. Thoughts/comments?
