I been have following WhitePassion's IM journey 'Amazon affiliates journey to a stable income' (I cant post links..) quite closely for the last few weeks and it has got me motivated to start my own IM journey. Basically my initial goal will be to have my car payments ( $600 pm ) covered by my affiliates site and will help free up cach to invest in other IM opportunities. I think it is quite a realistic goal and hope you enjoy!

To start, I searched for a Godaddy coupon and bought my domain for $2. It's a partial .com and I didn't want an EMD as the niche is slightly broad, though combined with the titles, it will have the full targeted keywords within the URL's.

I ordered 32 articles from Natasha Nixon yesterday ( $200 ) and am dividing them up like so: 12 articles will be product focused/reviews and the rest will be informative and engaging.

Iv'e also chosen to go with Wordpress HeatMap AdAptive ( Free version ) and have made some modifications to the theme.
  • Removed date and author meta from pages only, still shows on posts
  • Manually removed the link in the footer
  • Taken the sky-medic.css style sheet from the premium theme demo and replaced the darthed.css files contents with the new css

My wordpress plugins are as follows ( I could export the settings and supply them if need be or let me know if I must post my plugin configs ):

  • Check Canonical URLs
  • disable Use Original Title
  • disable Use Keywords
  • uncheck Use Tags for META keywords

  • I modified the plugin to stop the reviews being added after the content and added the review function to the heatmap theme just after the author meta so its one of the first things the user sees as apposed to the last.

I have already setup all my categories based on my keyword research with Market Samurai.

I am busy with the banner for the site and writing up content for the featured block on the home page and the about us page.

Next I will have to write up a short intro to each category as the heatmap theme displays them.

I want to automate my social posting so will be doing some research on auto social poster plugins.

Hope I reach my goal and motivate someone! thanks for reading.

I don't have much knowledge in this area so I will be following your journey to learn some new things. You seem to have sorted out a lot of things already so that's great!

Best of luck!

Sounds like a beginning of a successful journey. You set up is beastly at the moment with the articles

Good luck on your journey. I'll be following your thread as I also plan to start an Amazon Affiliate website soon.

Congrats on giving it a shot and seems your motivated so that is a great asset.

I've got to $600 a month using 3 different amazon methods + more... So for most people I think you stand a good chance getting there .. Just try to relax in the beginning and don't sweat the stats everyday .. As sales take a few months to get steady .. Focus on your keywords, product selection, content and site and I'm sure you can get out of it what your looking for.

all the best.

First update - I just received my articles from natasha nixon and will be posting them as it, they will be drip fed e.g. 1 post every second day.

I am also going to get some traffic and trust going with informative articles first as apposed to throwing aff links on the site. Later on (1-2 weeks) I will start interlinking and jucing up the articles whilst adding the 'post updated' meta schema so Google might re look at them :)

Basically alot of work to get through over the next few hours but looking good. Already I can see some organic traffic but social referrals are totally throwing off my bounce rate (70%) hence I am going to chill on the social.

Will update in the morning after the 2 new acticles I uploaded

Best of luck on your journey Nit3watch! :)

Good luck with your journey!
May I ask how many eCommerce pages you are competing against for your main kw on page 1?
I feel like whatever keyword research I do, I always end up with products that are dominated by ecommerce stores like target, walmart, amazon, macys..

Good luck! I'm looking into Amazon Affiliates as well, so I'm very curious to see how you do :-)

Good luck mate. May be it was for me but Amazon niche works much better over blogspot than a self hosted. Have so many popular products related keywords sitting at #1 rank even above amazon itself at blogspot.

Why did you stop updating this?

My goal with the journey was to inspire action, but I've obviously failed :|
