Recently I read an article saying that four years ago 18% people online will visit amazon directly without turn to G for help. But now it's 34%. Means less and less people give us the chance to get a buyer in G and then send him/her to Amazon. Does it mean the whole Amazon affiliate industry will die at last? Or drop dramatically due to the trend?

    Well that can't be true.
People will still want to read reviews or find out what's hot.
And that's when we come in.

Did you mean the 18% or 34% data is fake? I m not sure.
And... though people want to find reviews, they know they can read them from comments on Amazon. Looks like more and more people are doing so. People are getting smarter. If not, how to explain the increase of percentage reg. direct visits to Amazon?

Don't fret because of the percentage increase. It took 4 years for that number to increase by 16%, so you still have a lots of time to make money from Amazon affiliate sales. Besides, regardless of what any article says, people will still keep searching for reviews and buying guides...forever - and Amazon associates isn't the only affiliate program in the world.

I don't think it will ever completely die out, but I wouldn't doubt that the affiliate program would become much less profitable over time.

So...what do you think to be the more profitable strategy than affiliate program in the future? Or we are just waiting to be controlled by G/Sony/Amazon/Apple without being able to share profit from them?

If 100% of people visit amazon directly, this wont affect of affiliaters, because those people are the ones who know what to buy, but the majority don't know what to buy, so they hit google and search for best laptops, laptops 2014, laptop reviews, etc...
and here comes the affiliate turn to direct them on youtube with your cookies.

Its all mere speculation from someone least experienced in such things. The reason people visit other websites is because they need to know whether its a good idea to shop on amazon for the product they have already made up their mind about.

Every method there is will sometimes be flooded with a lot of competition or be less scalable
Just try to bank hard while it lasts as others have said

That will be more of a problem for Google if it happens and for that Google will be more worried to come up with a solution because it will lose billions compared to tiny marketers doing churn and burn... :)

Amazon will never die out. It is one of the best places to shop and is highly reliable. Where else can you find that on the web besides manufacturer websites?

    You got it wrong mate,

Here is the idea, very few percentage of people are looking directly for a certain products, those are the ones you can worry about. Someone looking for sony vaio cw... will probably go directly to amazon, and amazon ranks first for most of product keywords anyway

However, the major of people using search engines, are using it for semi-informational keywords. Reviews, Comparisons, Prices, and 90% of people who you are targeting are still looking for solution to their problems. This is why they are using google in the first place

And Amazon doesn't have those information, Affiliates do. So, as long as people have problems, Amazon and other affiliate shapes will be here. Actually, I believe it will just get better because more people are using internet, more affiliate options, more competition, the internet is maturing everyday, which means, more opportunities for us

    Well said.

Instead of looking at the 34% that visit amazon directly, may be we all should look at how the typical amazon search phrases like "best product category" or "product reviews" etc are trending these days. I don't see any changes from what I look at.

The increasing number of direct visit to amazon is probably an indicator of how Amazon has established itself as a big brand, and not necessarily indicate the number of searches that Google gets for product related searches.
