Amazon Affiliate Site Journey - Step by Step

Hello Bhw!

After some bucks gained with Pinterest and Adsense, i've decided to go for sale and conversions with Amazon affiliate site!

This is my first time i build an authority wordpress site and i'm a little bit scared because of my noobness. I've always build simple blogger site, and now i want make things professional, buy hosting and domain and so on..but i need your help!


- What i've done

- Keyword research, product research, domain research.
- Amazon Affiliate ID
- Bought domain and hosting
- Installed Wordpress

I've read a lot about keywords research for amazon site, in particular thanks to this threads :

I've spent the last day to find the perfect keywords mirroring the best criteria and so i've a found a good(?) keyword with this features :

- 880 Monthly searches ( In Italy)
- 179.000 Results in Google Search
- www.mykeywords.com/it domain available
- Amazon products prizes from 30 Euro to 180 Euro
- The keyword refers to a specific audience and buyers ( Who buy this things is because he needs for a specific sport/hobby purpose)
- I will be targeting italian people, i'm from Italy

Do you think is a good keyword ?

- What i will do

- Search for basic plugin for Wordpress or basic set up ( There is a guide on bhw about this ? Found it http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...321-build-wordpress-site-step-step-guide.html)
- Start to write articles on my own because i have a brain
- Do Seo
- Gain money

Now comes the problems :

I don't think it will be hard to buy hosting/domain and install wordpress on it, the hardest part is after that point.


- How can i set up my wordpress site for my purpose ?

- Do i need some plugins to organize my Amazon affiliate site ?

- How can i organize my site and articles ? Maybe into Category ? Field ? or what ?

- There are some sites to look, for gaining ideas of what it needs to be done?

All questions, suggestions, and advices are really apprecciate.

Yes, the site will be in Italian.

Do you reccomend to use the extensions .it or .com?

Have you thought about what kind of WP theme will you use? First do that and second think about plugins. You will be writing content yourself?
I believe there was an example site in Nick's thread... pickmyshaver?

I will try tro write articles on my own first because my niche is small and not so hard to write about.
I will use a very simple theme, maybe with a custom header

- I've registered domain and bought hosting for my keywords
- Installed Wordpress

Update first post.

For hosting: I would definitely recommend Host Gator because it will allow you to expand along the way.

I made the mistake of using iPage, which seemed great at first, but if you start using a plugin that allows you to set certain things to be pulled from Amazon automatically, you will have to switch hosting providers. iPage doesn't support cron jobs (which you can actually find on third-party sites). But iPage also doesn't support SOAP which is required for a lot of advanced plugins also.

To add to my mistakes, the first host I switched to was Dreamhost. However, their file manager sucks so you can't bulk edit. Additionally, their server response time is very slow which makes editing with CSS a pain, because you can't see your edits until like 15 minutes later.

try post 1 new article daily if not then 5 new articles in a week you get rank fast on google

I think i'm going to write about 15/30 articles on my own about different amazon product, then i will try to automate the process with some plug-in

I can't reach my site now because i've activated it few hours ago. I'm spending this day to write some articles to push when my site is online.

My site is finally online, i've selected a simple custom theme for Wordpress

I've also :

- Installed Google Analistic Plugin

- Wrote 3 long general articles about my niche ( The pictures of my articles is watermarked with my amazon aff link)

What i'm going to do today :

- Write 5/6 review articles about my products niche with specific link to my amazon aff link

- Install basic plugin for SEO and optimization

Update 3

- Wrote 6 articles in total, 3 about my niche in general and the others 3 about product reviews like : The best "mykeyword" for ecc..
- Start building my site little by little adding menu, and widget

What i'm going to do next :

- Write more articles
- Add comparison product table ( need to learn how it works)
- Continue implementing my site
- Add the basic plugin after i've wrote a decent amount of articles

UPDATE 4 - big things comes slow

I'm very happy of my work! The site is currently running, almost all the things are going well! I'm very proud of myself!

What i've done

- I've written more then 10 good unique articles divided into pillar articles with comparison table ( 1500+ words) , general articles about my niche (1000+ words) and specific product review ( 500 + words ) ( See here for what is a pillar article and comparison table )

- I've done basic SEO using some plugins like Yoast Plugin. I've also used Google Webmaster tool with good result

- I've set up the basic menu/widget of my site

After one week of hard work i can finally rest for this night, my site is starting to be ranked.

- What i will do in the next days

I will continue implementing my site, i will looking for more plugins and i will learn more and more about wp word
I will continue to write more and more pillar articles to reach more authority
I will learn how to track my clicks ( Some ideas guys ? )
I will continue to rank my site ( Need to study about backlinks )
I will create a facebook page

Good luck with your journey. When you say you watermark your image with your amazon affiliate link, what exactly are you talking about?Do you mean link your image to amazon? That is okay, but remember to read amazon TOS.

Update 5

What i've done

- Created a Facebook fan pages with 50 Likes from invited friends and shared some articles
- Wrote another pillar article ( 2000 + words products review) and submitted to Google
- Replaced the older wordpress theme, now i'm using Alizee Theme fully optimized
- Completed the menu with categories
- I've created some backlinks in some Forum about my product

What i will do

- Buy some fake facebook likes
- Write more articles
- Try to rank more in Google

Five days has passed from the start of the site and for now i don't have any profit, only some clicks. I'm positive about this journey, i've done a lot of hard work especially in the content creation. Little by little my site is getting ranked..

Sounds like you are well on your way to making some good money. I'm going to try and follow this as I'm doing a lot of the same things. I guess I need to read up a little more on these pillar articles and review charts.

btw don't buy likes for facebook. if you are going to go the route of fake likes then just use a service like addmefast. In my sparetime throughout the week i just gather points and then turn on the facebook like feature.
