Amazon Affiliate Program Is Dying

I did a quick search and only found 1 thread on BHW regarding earning decreases (here). Maybe I missed some threads?

With the number of alleged Amazon affiliates who frequent this forum, (and number of DFY Azon sites pumped out) I'm baffled this isn't buzzing.

There is a recent thread on Amazon's (shitty) forums where most users are reporting extreme decreases in commissions/sales and tracking problems.

Over the last few months, Amazon Associates has all the symptoms of a program that is starting to collapse. I'm not saying RIP yet, but Amazon doesn't seem to care one way or another about its affiliates unless they are mega-players.

Makes sense on their end though... going to a 24 hour cookie was a smart thing on their part and there's really nothing anyone can do about it.

If they are having tracking problems, there's nothing we can do about it. In regards to the program itself dying, I think it's highly unlikely. We may not be able to see it but I'm sure that all of Amazon's affiliates are collectively bringing some nice coin to the company.

Consider this, if Amazon were to shut its affiliate program down tomorrow, where would all the marketers go? It's likely that someone would quickly fill this gap and Amazon would have shot itself in the foot by creating a monster competitor stealing all of their old traffic.

Target and walmart have an affiliate program.If amazon pulls out just promote their competition.

Of course Amz affiliate are bringing in tons of revenue for Amz. The Amz aff. program is honestly what skyrocketed Amzon's success in the beginning. They're deeply indebted to their original affiliates.

And you're right, when there are tracking and reporting issues, you're powerless.

And when 2+ months of conversion rates have suddenly dropped ~50% (several months after Azon cut most of our commission tiers down with the new fixed rate), tracking is haywire, and the company shows no interest in helping their affiliates... people will start to move to the alternatives... if they're smart.

Exactly. They're no sitestripe, but Target & Walmart can both cover most of the same inventory.
