Any1 else using Amazon Affiliate Program sometimes feel like you're not getting any sales because there's a problem on their side?
Whenever the dashboard becomes oddly slow to load or throws an error of some kind, I've learned to expect hardly any sales going forward until things start to load up properly again. Other side effects include the dates getting messed up or the earning report showing results at odd intervals instead of the usual times. At such times a few odd sales do trickle in, but they make less sense, they're wildly out of place compared to the usual sales patterns.
Sometimes the day starts and the normal sales pattern takes place, but suddenly in the middle of the day some error shows up for a short while and immediately the sales pattern gets wacky. Such a downtime can sometimes last for a whole week at a time even after the error disappeared within the first day.
It's been happening a lot in the last few months especially. Now that they've been throwing out "special rate periods" I'm noticing downtimes in sales before they're announced every single time. So far this year I've gotten 3 special rate changes already and I wish they stopped... I'd rather have normal sales pattern at lower rates than no sales at higher rates. Though it has also happened before or during a stealth update they're going through. I've noticed quite a few improvements and changes to design and colors at the cost of having wacky sales patterns for those durations as well.
It might be a coping mechanism, but rationalizing it takes 0 effort, so I'm at odds.
Maybe it's the way they register clicks or something, though this is the least likely explanation as there are no clear evidence for this... Say I'm having a damn good run, the system decides I must be getting some shady clicks and throttles it down under the pretext that some clicks are shady. Then it lasts for a certain amount of time and then it frees it up again and I'm back to getting the usual sales pattern until the system decides to throttle it again, and so over and over and over again. Maybe when I check my links manually (by removing the affiliate tag) it picks it up as shady activity and throttles things... There must be a reason for this fairly obvious pattern of downtime.
