Hi everybody,

I am looking for a way to build and extra source of income and considering to build Amazon affiliate review webpage or Shopify dropship store with a goal to earn 2k-3k per month. I have been playing with Amazon affiliate websites few years ago and did some dropshipping on Ebay with Aliexpress (earned about 50$ :) ), too, but back then it was only for curiosity purpose. I have been doing Amazon Private Label for more than 2.5 years with 25k in sales per month and growing. Still, It would be great to build a second way of income as I have a lot of free time to do it.

So going forward there are my questions regarding the topic: "Amazon Affiliate or Shopify dropshipping as a side income ?"
- I guess that income, expense, effort and time curves are quite different comparing Shopify Dropshiping and Amazon affiliate model. How do they differ in time in the long run and what should I expect?
- In which model the income is more consistant and scalable?
- Is it possible to fully automate these two income models and leave them for 7-14 days without my care?
- What are other factors that I must consider before diving in into dropshipping or Ama-affiliate?

You have kind of answered your own question. If you already have an income from Amazon diversifying isn't really working out how to get another income stream from Amazon. If you wanted to do that it would just be easier to scale what you already do, add in complimentary products etc.

Diversifying would be getting an income that isn't Amazon based. The issue is Amazon is better than shopify!

Go with Dropshipping. Nowadays it is very difficult to scale with amazon affiliate website.

I launch new products on Amazon from time to time. Definitely, I am not going to stop as I have a lot of experience it this area already. However, the main thing with Amazon is that you do not own that store and they can shutdown sellers anytime. I had a situation where my main best selling product was suspended for more than two weeks (reason: a customer or a competitor left a fake complain about my product). Took some time get the product rankings and income back. Only then I realized the meaning of proverb : "Don't Put All your Eggs in One Basket" - it is not only investing money into different products and sourcing from different suppliers. After that I created a stealth account on Amazon. Now I am looking for another way of income to control possible risks. ;)

I agree with you that the issue with Amazon is it is all your eggs in one basket and they can on a whim suspend/close your store or product line down for no real reason.

How I sorted that dilemma was by a third option. Affiliate marketing direct for companies, driving traffic to their site and they pay me. Obviously this is BHW so it is a bit naughty how I do that and make money.
