Amazon affiliate or dropshipping?

Ok, so I found a pretty interesting niche without much competition. That's why I'm thinking about starting my first dropshipping or affiliate site.
I never tried dropshipping before, so this would be an interesting project. I'm just wondering what would be more profitable. An Amazon affiliate store (Amazon has a huge selection of products from this niche) or doing dropshipping from wherever. Any helpful advices will be great.

Ultimately to be successful you need to be able to drive traffic that converts.

As your new to this, start by being an affiliate so you can concentrate on driving the traffic, when you have mastered that, then is the time to set up your own store and redirect the traffic - now you know it converts - to that.

Amazon Pros

• Amazon is definitely easier, rank for buying words and don't worry about the rest.
• Huge selection of products
• Buyer confidence
• Often get unrelated sales (15% for me currently)
• Multiple Geographies

Amazon Cons

• Low commission
• Restrictive ToS, stops you being a bit more creative
• Did I mention that the commission sucks?

Personally, I have a bunch of Amazon affiliate sites and I am looking for new products I can affiliate direct with sellers to increase margins.

Ebay partners is pretty bad also, I sent £1000 sales for a single product last month and made £36 commission, same for the last 6 months. I spoke to the seller as his product is unique and asked if I can affiliate direct. He did not have the setup even though I was 80% of his sales in the UK (he is US). I did the math, I can produce the product myself in the UK and make £300 minimum per month from existing traffic. So I am doing that now but would have settled for 20% commission (he makes 85%)

As @GringoMonkey said, find something that works on Amazon, Ebay etc (take the easy, cheap route) then look at drop shipping, replicating the product yourself, once you have a proven money stream.

I'm a bit concerned about dropshipping when it comes to legal issues. Selling products in this niche can be copyright infringement if they are not licensed. And I'm 100% sure when dropshipping those products from Aliexpress they are not licensed. So when I dropship them, I would be responsible as I'm the seller right?

With affiliate programs like Amazon's I don't have to worry about this, as I don't sell anything. I just link to the products on Amazon.

What do you think about this?

Both @fasttrak and i have already outlined you should start with an affiliate program because you dont have to worry about anything other than driving traffic. So start with an affiliate program.
