Amazon Affiliate Footprint

Say, for example, I have a bunch of websites which are SEO'd in a blackhat way e.g. SB, Xrumer, etc. on one hosting account, which don't currently have links to amazon products on them.

Then, I have a bunch of websites on another hosting account that I don't want "linked" to the above hosting account. I've got different whois etc., completely different design, content etc.,

so my question is, if I put my amazon affiliate link on the first bunch of sites, will Google "link" them together and if that bunch gets slapped, both sets go down even though they are on different IPs, completely different in all other respects? I ask this because everyone's amazon affiliate ID is unique so surely Google should be able to do this? I'm just wondering if they actually do perform this.

I've done a similar setup in the past and have never had a problem with google. And you've taken far more precautions than I did.

Nah, there won't be any issues with that. I would, however, if i were you, cloak the links.

Thanks guys. I am trying to keep the second bunch of sites as 'whitehat' as possible -- wouldn't cloaking the links kind of, er, run in the face of that? Also, could it get my amazon account banned?

cloak the links on your blackhat site and leave them valid on the whitehat

lol, SGirl, good point. I will do that but I've got one issue with it -- the "black hat" sites have got adsense on them, wouldn't they get banned from adsense if on a manual review they see I am cloaking affiliate links. Now, you might ask why I am not banned from adsense already if my sites from the first bunch are black hat. Well, they're not really, it's just that they are backlinked quite lazily, i.e. profile linking and comment spam. (Who says SB commenting is dead?)

That's not entirely blackhat, any one of your competitors could have put up crappy/spammy backlinks to try to hurt your site. You shouldn't get punished for that.

You can also create a separate tracking ID within your Amazon Associates account for use on your blackhat sites, and continue using your current ID on the whitehat, That way there's no link between your sites (from Google's perspective anyways).

It's a waste of money with google, you should try others.
