It might sound like a stupid question but how do you know where a commission is coming from?

I have 4 Amazon sites that are live and some are ranking on the top 10 pages already.

Let's say I make a sale. How do I know which of my 4 sites generated that sale?

I know it'll be obvious which site the sale comes from if they purchase that product but what if they purchase something completely different from the niche of my site?

Amazon gives 4% per sale till you get 20 sales than the % increase upto 7%. now you can imagine if your product is 1000 usd than you get 4% profit of $40. if product price is 100 of 1 day sales than your profit is $4.

You shouldn't have placed the same affiliate id on all 4 websites. Just generate 3 new tracking ids and swap out the affiliate links on 3 of the sites, now you'll be able to separately track the sales from each id.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't given the same affiliate ID to all 4 sites. Some sites are not ranked yet so I'm leaving the affiliate code out until the site is in top 10 pages.

Also, when it comes to selling the site, how do I individually show that the site is generating $x,xxx montly.

Say for example,
  • Site 1 makes $1,000 per month
  • Site 2 makes $400 per month
  • Site 3 makes $600 per month
  • Site 4 makes $2,000 per month
If I want to sell Site 2, how can I show that it makes $400 per month as opposed to it showing all revenue together ie, $4,000 per month?

Just create new tracking code for each site and use it to generate new affiliate links. Now hook them up on their respective sites.
You cannot get site wise sales report for the previous sales because they were all using the same tracking code.
I too am into Amazon sites, lets connect over skype.
