Hello fellow BHW members,

I am a new Amazon affiliate that has just met their mandatory 3 valid orders. But today I received this email from them.
Hello XXXXXX, We’ve now reviewed your application to the Associates Program. Unfortunately, it did not meet our program requirements. As a result, we have closed the account under which you had been temporarily approved. Why? The violation/s include the following:
  • We noticed that you are not using tags associated with your store in any of the Amazon Special Links you have created on your website. As a result of this, we were unable to determine the source of traffic. This is in violation of our Program Policies. An example can be found here: http://xxxxxxxx.com/
Basically, I am rejected.
I use https://amzn.to/xxxxxx links on my site.
Is that the problem? I should use links that contain my specific affiliate link like blablabla-20 ?

I want to rejoin them but I need to know the problem first.
Hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks

Do you use a plugin (like aawp or amalinkspro) to get sales from UK/CA/etc.. ? I got my .co.uk account banned for the same reason, try switching to amazon one link for other amazon stores.

No. I did it manually. It is Amazon.com
I am sure this title gave some people heart attacks.
lol.. I hope not

you must have violated their TOS.

What images did you use? Since you have done manually what did u use sitestripe or someother way?
Where did you place the affiliate disclosure?

very curious to see what happens when I finally cross the 3 Sales barrier on my newest account. I hope they haven't tightened up their rewiews. Fingers crossed!

I don't use their images. For example, I promote 'frying pan' on a recipe page with a french fries image.
I am not sure about sitestripe, I went to their 'frying pan' page, choose one product, and use the 'get link'... something like that
Affiliate disclosure is on the footer across the site

DId you add your site to the approved sites list?
Yes. And I only use that one site. In fact, all sales came from one page only.

Make sure your links don't have the noreferrer tag. This is automatically added by WordPress when a link opens a new tab
Maybe this is the reason. I didn't know Wordpress adds this tag
target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer

Is it okay to use amzn.to/xxxx link as long as there is no 'noreferrer' tag?
Thanks

Yes. Make sure those tags aren't automatically added.

Many Amazon Affiliate sites use the amzn.to/xxxx link. That's not the issue.

I have seen many cases regarding the affiliate disclosure thing.
Reapply after adding the affiliate disclosure on all posts that has amazon links. Add it somewhere visible like in the beginning of the post.

Use sitestripe to add images to website.

Without looking at the website it is quite difficult to give an answer. Go through the amazon TOS see if you fulfill every requirement. Go to your competitors websites and see what they have done. you will definitely find the problem.

Thank you all, will reapply. It was quite hard to get those 3 sales, lol. Hope I can do it again.

I had to the same problem as the OP, i used aawp's geo redirection for the .co.uk and got the same email, saying that i didn't use the tags associated with my account, and i just looked at WP external links, and it was no opener/nor efferer, damn....

Thanks for the tip mate!

Mine was due to using link shortners like bit.ly...

took me 7 months of appeals for them to reopen it.

Reapplied and put new links and make sure there is no "noreferrer" tag.
But it seems I can't remove "noopener" tag. Even on the 'same tab' links.
I suppose it is okay. Is it?
Thanks again.
