[AMA] Ask me anything about e-commerce

How to Dropship from AliExpress or XYz from China.
When the same thing is available cheaper in Indian wholesale market.
What is your view, how to select a product
I'm not experienced in dropshipping, but there are a lot of sites that help you select and even import the products from Aliexpress. I think the most popular is Oberlo.

In that niche it's kind of a nightmare, as you can only source these products from officially licensed dealers who require you to have offline stores as well. If you don't own an offline store, or if you do but it's not up to their high standards, they won't sell you the products.
Any other niche would be 10 times easier, as you can simply look for B2B companies.

What’s the price point of the items being sold?

What’s the price point of the items being sold?
Anywhere from $100 to $1000, which may not seem a lot, but it's actually way above the price range of similar products. The ones we sold were of luxury brands.

What stops you from doing it yourself instead of working for low money?
It would be impossible to manage such an e-commerce alone. I did the technical parts, most marketing and some customer service but there were other people working on it (more marketing, more customer service, financial administration, managing orders, actually packing and shipping the products, etc). I quit and I now just do web design for a living.

Have you followed any courses to learn about Facebook and Google ads?
If yes can you suggest them, please?
I've started a Google ads course on Udemy but it was too basic and boring, so I quit. I'm mostly self taught. Whenever I don't know something I just search for it and read articles or watch tutorials. BTW, Facebook is way easier than Google. If you're tech savvy you can learn the basics of Facebook ads in a day or so.

I'm looking to work like you. How to find those owners
I just saw the job advertisement online and applied. You could search for e-commerce companies in your area and send them your resume.

Hello, what is your google ad quality score. How to optimize your quality score?
Are you targeting long tail keywords?
thank you

It depends on the campaign. The key is experiment, you must try and try until you figure out what works best for your audience. If you want to create a campagin, create 2 instead, with only a small difference between them. Wait for a month or so, analyze the data and then only keep the one that performed best.
I was mostly doing Shopping campaigns. The keyword ones weren't usually long tail.

Serious question here!

What advice would you give someone whose never launched or owned an e-commerce store/bizz that’s looking to start ASAP?

If you are on your own I would suggest dropshipping, so that you won't have to deal with stocks, handling, shipping, etc.
I would try to find a profitable niche with low competition, possibly something original and creative.
I would probably use Shopify which is great for beginners, you can build great looking e-shops even if you have zero experience.
I would also try to offer something different from your competitors, the company I worked for was successful not because of the products, but because they had by far the best customer service you could possibly imagine.
We tested the customer service of all our competitors and they all sucked compared to ours, that's why people bought from us (if the product is the same everywere you got to have a reason to buy from one site instead of another, right?).

That’s true and for starters isn’t e-commerce store more better in the long run vs a Shopify store?
Also I have an idea of my target audience now I’m researching to find a winning product, seeing my audience tends to spend and likes luxury items kinda makes it a bit easier..

I hear you on the one man team and having to package, ship etc yeah it’ll be a lot while still trynibb to build a website..

Any recommendations on a good e-commerce store creator?

Shopify can work very well even for bigger stores, some big companies use it.
I've always used WooCommerce because it's easily customizable, but it's harder to set up than Shopify.
Huge companies like Nike and HP use Magento or custom built platforms.
I've also tried PrestaShop but didn't like it at all.
In the end the CMS you choose won't matter much, 99% of customers won't know or care what you're using as long as the site is well built.

If you were building on WP using WooCommerce, what pluggins/addons are absolutely necessary and which do you like to add for added benefits?

- Payment methods: PayPal, PayPal Checkout, Amazon Pay, Stripe, etc
- Any filter and search plugins of your choice (built-in filter and search suck)
- Yoast SEO or The Seo Framework
- Code Snippets if you plan to add your own code
- Woo Feed to generate a product feed for Google and Facebook ads

What was the AOV and LTV for customers of that store. What was the returning customer rate? Was there any subscription revenue?
