Am Really Amazed How Google Really Operates

Am really amazed that few weeks ago me and friend of mine created a news website. Scraping news from theverge with wp automatic and translating it to my local language. And Submitted that site to Google news, and it was approved :'D.
I felt few doubts, then I read few blogs about how hard to get a website to be approved in Google news. The second surprise, is I also got ecommerce website approved in Google news too :'D. Seriously ?!

Till Now, I didn't nothing more than what i mentioned in the thread I swear. No underhood process or whatsoever :'D

Hi,

About six months ago Google news changed its approach to sites being in Google News or outside. They basically allow all sites to be 'in Google News' but then use their AI to decide whether anyone sees the content or not.

At least you will get disgusting amount of traffic for really unfair advantage from Google Discover

They made the change just after I bought a Google news approved site

Unfortunately with their AI they also rank the big news sites above the smaller ones

It was a painful lesson

Wow, Really drastic changes. But yeah we still facing that dilemma for prioritizing the big players over the small ones.

Oh too bad, but do you notice any difference in traffic from the already approved site compared to any other site you have?

I think though that Google discover is different to Google news and if you have large hi Res images and meet the Google discover requirements then Google discover is different. It is more of a 'magazine' than hard news.

Agree, and there are many case studies how websites gained tremendous amount of traffic from Discover cards

I deleted the website and just have the domain. There was no difference in traffic and the only advantage I could see was that my posts were indexed within 2 minutes.

Google effectively brought together a couple of its news products and to make it easier for them decided that all websites would be considered as news worthy but they would then filter out and only show what their AI considered to be the most trustworthy. IE the big sites.

Google discover is slightly different

Basically, the same thing, except that now they "let you in" but still only show all of their coorporate friends.
