Hi everyone, first post as you can no doubt see.
This forum seems to have an excellent amount of info and programs and god knows what else.
Anyway, I have a small query which is this:

I created a blog about a week ago with a keyword which is so absurdly ridiculous that it only returned 4 results on google, which were all the same anyway. I did this because I wanted to see if I could get to google's no.1 spot without any competition, before moving on to a more competitive niche.

Well, I posted about 4 articles, all original and decent to the blog, put in a fair amount of keywords - i.e. description, meta tags, without overdoing it. Submitted it to digg and delicious a couple of times.

But...absolutely nothing! It doesn't come up in google results AT ALL. I have other blogs which aren't exactly supreme page rankers, but at least they appear...and they aren't very different either to this one.

I'm not sure if I've missed something obvious or if I'm just a total retard. Would anyone care to help?

Thank you.

When submitting a normal website to google the manual way, there's a meta tag function to tell the google bot how often to return to check for new content.

If google bot finds your website through backlinks from digg / delicious perhaps if you have the meta tag in place it will help you out down the road as well.

Thanks blue: Googlebot...that's a good point - I haven't checked that in my traffic logs. I'll go and see.

Marine: I didn't even realise you could submit your website to google manually!

csn, sending you a pm now.

Try pinging your site and getting a few more back links so googlebot can pick your pages up.

Hi, thanks... how do I go about pinging my site?

Wow, cool sites. Thank you.
How much weight do they carry in general?

What exactly do you mean by how much weight?
Also, I see you are new to the forum. There is a thanks button below everybody's posts - it's recommended to use that over posting and saying thanks.

Also, make sure to check out the Black hat SEO section of the forum for more tips and such.. Sounds like you are off to a good start though! :)

Not trying to come off like an ass, emotion is hard to display online. Feel free to PM or IM me with any questions :)

Thank twoj04, I've pm'd you now.
I think I found out that my keyword was so stupid and that obviously there were only one or two backlinks (my own blogs anyway) that Google hadn't found it yet. Who can blame them.
So I added it manually to Google's URL adder - how long does it usually take to go through, does anyone know?
