Question: Lets say a keyword supposedly gets 100 searches per day according to google. I'm finding that many people who are in the top 20 for a search term search for their site multiple times a day!

Does this mean that the search numbers are greatly inflated? If 15 DJ's for instance are searching "Buffalo DJ" 3 times each a day, does that mean that there are really only 45 searches a day? Is there any google adjustment for that?

Just seems like from what I'm seeing that most search terms have very distorted, inflated numbers...

Thoughts?

In short...yes. You will typically find that Google search numbers are not quite what they say they are and seem to always err on the side of more searches rather than less.

While there is no perfect way to determine the EXACT amount of traffic a particular keyword gets, it is easy enough to ESTIMATE, especially when using multiple tools. I use Google and Market Samuri to get an estimate (though many others exist such as Wordtracker) and I choose only keywords that meet my specific criteria, always asuming that the search number given is exaggerated.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
