I paid someone to scrape mails via google for business related keywords so that I would get business mails. This includes something lije "proxy service", "herb shop" etc.

He gave me the last 20 emails for each keyword as a sample but none of them had anything to do with any keyword. When I searched for them, they turned up as random mails.

Also, 100% of the mails (from thousands) were gmails which I find impossible. He said the others were "rejected as spam" or something. The domain related emails were what I was looking for.

Obviously, I don't know anything about scraping, as I wouldn't have paid someone to do it, so can anyone tell me what's wrong here? Am I getting scammed? If he's scamming me, why did it take him like 1-2 weeks for the results? Thanks.

It all sounds a little blurry. Is it a service you bought from someone here or not? If so, contact him first and arrange it among yourselves.

It's easy to scrape gmails from software, i can provide you thousands in minutes.
I am saying this all because you write all 100% mails are gmail - so i don't think he scarped them from the keywords.

If you bought this on BHW and the service or product is subpar then request a refund if you don’t receive it open up an SL and leave it to the staff.

Yes, he's scamming you. If he gave you 20 emails and when you search they have nothing to do with the keyword, then what more do you need? You are paying him to do a job. If he can't explain where he got the data then it's just a scam.

Sorry, I failed to mention. I didn't buy this from BHW and it has nothing to do with BHW. I didn't even pay the guy yet and may yet refuse payment because I think he didn't deliver what I wanted. I hate to do it but I asked for one thing, and he delivered another.

That's what I'm thinking he did. I DON'T need that. I wanted something like ''herb shop'' - scrape - get emails from results, which would mostly be business emails by the stores and online businesses. Something like [email protected] etc. The fact that he said 100% are gmail indicates to me that he pulled them out of his ass and not from the results.

When I type the samples he showed into google, 0% of them have anything to do with the keyword I provided. That's why I wanted to ask a more experienced scraper for an opinion - is this just a scam?

Try LinkedIn, maybe give sales navigator a look.

also something like
Code:
https://getprospect.io/
or maybe an addon on chrome.

I don't think its a scam per say, but its a bad service. You're paying something in *blipcountry* to do something they probably have never done. If the sample is not good, it means they don't know what they are doing.

I think he is genuinely scraping google for those keywords, but he is doing a really bad job. Hire someone else, or do it yourself, its not superhard.

But if he's genuinely scraping google, how come it only returns gmails if the first multiple pages only return professional websites with self hosted email domains? Like, if you type in ''herb shop'', you will get a lot of shops with a personalized support or info etc. email. He said something about being rejected for spam for any non-gmail emails but that sounds stupid.

Very interesting site. I will check it out.

I don't want to scrape myself because I don't want to waste time on setting up a VPS, learning etc.
