Am i doing it wrong?

There may be several issues:
1.) You may target wrong keywords
2.) You are doing something wrong in link building (did you diversify your link profile, added links from high quality sources, ...)

There are also other options (your website is too slow, Google doesn't truest you, ...). If you tell more, we'll be able to give more detailed advice.

Are you willing to revenue share 50/50 with the person who sorts out your site?

some kind of contest on FB and twitter will boost your traffic
try also to build a list like that you will get repeat visitors

I have links from high quality sources but the links from these sources are site wide links, and are linked through the info-graphic not anchor text. But i do rank first for the alt text what i used for them images.

The keywords are related to the niche but i dont think much traffic goes to them keywords. I rank of the first page but i dont rank 1st... that could be the problem. I find it extremeltly hard to generate links to the articles apart from buying links from fiverr.

Any suggestions?

Nope
Ill will get their on my own! It has taken me along time to build and market this site so im going to stick with it!

I have done contests before and they where not that successful
What do you mean build a list? A list of what?

I forgot to add that the inner pages have more links pointing to them then the root domain. I just find it extremely diffecult to build links to the ropot domain what are high PR and carry authroty!

Have you ever heard about MANULA? Try it and I think I got the best result from this.
