Am I building this silo correctly?

Hey,

I've read up on/watched a few different videos on silo structures and some questions came up while building my first silo. The way I'm setting up this silo is by having the homepage and four related articles (based on long tails of the main keyword) link to my main keyword I'm ranking for. Each article will also contain internal links to each other article. The article with the main KW will have no internal links to the other articles to keep the link juice from flowing out.

Here are my questions:

1) When creating the category for the silo, does the category name have to be the same as the main KW I'm trying to rank? Or can it be a general name related to that keyword/silo topic? Right now I have it set up as the latter.

2) What do I put on the homepage? I'm so used to reading about/creating homepages that rank for my main KW that I'm not sure what to have there instead. Right now I have a static article for another KW related to my main KW as the homepage. Is this fine?

3) Where do I build the backlinks? From what I've read, I should be building the backlinks to point to my homepage which in turn will point to my silo articles which in turn all point to my main KW article at the top of the silo providing massive link juice. Is this correct?

Here is what I basically do for med low comp keywords starting from the back - web2 blasts from various web2 sites aimed at posts on my website, the posts are linked to 4 - 5 pages and the 4 - 5 pages are linked to the homepage. If you can understand that.

I think I got it. But, in your case it sounds like you're building link juice towards your homepage which has your low-med comp KW, correct?

Yes all the link juice goes into my homepage, but I do not build links from outside my site pointing to my homepage, all the juice comes from the back of the site. Using this technique of spamming the site from the back through posts, seems to make the site last longer than other sites where you directly hit the homepage.

I am not really sure if the way that I use is the correct way, or the way most people make a silo, it is just what I do, and it seems to work well, and I would guess it is something like.
