Hey!

Could someone please tell me if I am being targeted by negative seo over the last month since the backlinks have increased by 10k over 30 days (not by me):

Sounds like a very logical suspicion to me.
Why don't you manually check the backlinks? That should settle it.

it could be OR not.

Check the depth of those backlinks where are those coming from and what anchors etc will clear the cloud ;)

If the anchor text is not related to your website at all, I don't think you should worry about it.

Possible! But for that you have to be sure that the links which are generated over last 30 days are from bad links - I mean links, which are generated to destroy your organic traffic. and it is also an possibility if people who visits your blog regularly are very impressed with the quality of the information you provide and they decided to give backlink to your site from their sites.

If you think that your website has not gone viral, then it is most likely.

You can get rid of them by downloading all the backlinks and cross check them with the backlinks that you have made. This way you will feel a lot safer.

Do it fast, before Google catches up with them. But be careful to don't remove any good link in the process.

What type of links are they? If they are comment spam and forum account profiles then it is 100% low level negative SEO. That is a big number of links to magically appear.

Maybe it went viral. Probably not though. Check the backlinks and see where they are from. You will know because you'll most likely (not definitely) see a load of Russian sites.

You have to check where these links are coming from, and look for what anchors are being used.
