Am I being taken for a ride?

So here it goes. I manage emails and manage sales and client fulfillment for a blog owner client of mine. He is currently paying me 300 USD per month for doing this. I think I deserve to be paid at least 500 USD. I am committing 30 - 45 minutes per day for his work. Wanted to know the thoughts of you guys regarding this type of compensation. I live in a third world country so I have little options as I have a limited clientele. What should I be doing in this case?

A few intro questions:

- How long have you been working together?
- Exactly what tasks are you handling for him?

At your current rate, with the average of those two numbers being 37 minutes per day, you’re making around $16/hour.

If the client agrees to the suggested increase to $500, your hourly goes up to $26.

However, take into consideration two things:

1. If he accepts the increase, that may come with additional tasks/responsibilities.

2. If he declines the upgrade, there’s at least a small chance you may lose the client altogether (not saying that’s probable, but it can happen).

- 5 Years almost. (Started working together in October 2019)
- Handling guest posts and subscription clients. Updating articles with link inserts. Coordinating payments. Sending reminder emails. Keyword research now and then. etc. Regular stuff which a blog owner needs.
 
I think it's based on agreement, if you need a raise. Then you can request it right?

Best would be to charge for value provided, e.g. if OP makes $xxx per day in sales, it would make sense to increase the monthly fee.

Selling my time in hours was a curse I had to break on my own and it was a heavy one. Never again selling out my soul to anyone.

Sounds like increase from 300 to 500 would be fair.

Remember if you don't ask: answer always will be no.
 
Going from 300 to 500 may not be a good idea, especially if he can hire someone else to do the same things you do.

My guess is that he explained to you what you do when he hired you, meaning he knows the process and he will hire someone else instead of you.

Getting 300 from a developing country for less than 1 hour per day is a good deal for you.

If you are as good and you think that you should get paid more for that, then you should be able to find other clients and charge them 500.

What I mean is no need to sabotage a good deal now and put your focus on getting more clients than milking the current one.
 
Everyday I see someone here saying they get $60 an hour. All I had was $15 an hour and that lasted only 6 months. So they ain't that easy.
 
On one side, you are probably underpaid. On the other side, I don't like to raise my prices for old clients. It's my way of showing them some gratitude for sticking around for so long.
 
Minimum wage soon $10 an hour in Poland. So consider that... One of the most struggling countries in Europe. Consider full time job. They allow to make $2k for mediocre talent. But still talent. So what are you gonna do with $300? It's little client. I'd replace them with someone willing to pay $1200 for three times the time. So $900 + 30% increase. That way you would work 3 hours a day and get some decent 3rd world money.

Not possible but I'd seek that. Making little money is boring unless you can scale. Either scale by working more or your own method.

For me there's not much difference in someone paying $100 and $300. Both payments aren't worth jackshit. I wouldn't start any deal below $600 - $700 per month.

For $100 or $300 I would sell courses and methods, generally products. Not worth my attention everyday.

Learn to respect yourself with time. Better spend that attention on something long term.

Everything has gone up in price since late 2019 so its not that out of line to ask for an increase. If you are going to ask I would plan what you are going to say and think of possible objections and questions the client might have, so you can overcome them. Explain your costs have increased. Go for $500 but even if you get $400 that's a good 33% bump. They are obviously happy with your work so go for it.
 
Have an honest conversation with them.
Point out the increase in everything and why you think you are worth more.
If they are happy with your work they will pay.
They might go else where but most people trust the devil they know.
But don’t ever put yourself in “you pay me more or find someone else” situation that’s good for no one. They don’t want to back down neither do you and both parties lose.
 
you can ask 5 years working is a long time trust is earned and you being working hard every day if it doesn't agree you can at leats try with a middle point $400 and you still earn some extra money but as a backup plan have a normal approach, hope everything goes fine and you can get a rise in your payout.
 
You should ask him to increase the wage and just tell him that you can do some additional work alongside if he wants. That way you both will benefit from your increment and I don't think he will mind the request this way.
 
You make good money for such work of 30-45 min, don't be greedy because it is hard to find good clients. It is better to find another client instead of asking for more money.
 
There's someone out there willing to do the job for $200 and your tasks are not irreplaceable. Up to you to take the risk, but it sounds like you have a good gig going.
 
He is with you for 5 years. If this rate is same as what you started, you definitely deserve a raise.
 
Add another client if you think it's not enough , it's too risky to ask that client of yours for a raise.
