Am I being ripped off here with this VPS ??

Hey everyone,

I'm using http://xsservers.eu/windows-vps.html
(the $65 package) for running a friend adder 24/7.

So far they're great but I'm seeing similar solutions for such
a lower price!?

Here's some I've seen but not sure if they're safe etc anyone
think these would be better for me.

2gb of ram
windows server 2008
and a decent processor, say 3gh

So does anyone think I should stick with xsservers or go with one of the above!? All comments appreciated!

I have to agree that. You should really check out more VPS offers man. I'm sure you'll get more out of it.

$65 could get u a lot more than that. For 65$ u could pay someone to do it for u

for $65 you could get a dedicated or a much better vps.

Ripped off ? Just check firehost.com their vps starts at $200 for 1GB VPS plus $$ for additional stuff.

On lower quality = Yes you can make yourself happy.
For Highend Quality VPS = NO

it does cost a lot when you are providing quality services.

I have to agree with this. Does the price seem a little high? Yes and that is why I decided not to use them when I was shopping around for a vps.

Ripped off seems way too strong though, if they are giving you what they agreed to provide with decent quality and service than no you are not being ripped off.

Nothing wrong with looking to save some money but just because there cheaper alternatives out there does not mean every provider except the cheapest one is ripping people off.

thanks a bunch guys... I think xsservers are great BUT when compared to others I just wanted to ask the question - am I being ripped off here!?

I'm not running xrumer or scrapebox anymore so I've no need for anything fancy, I was waiting to here somebody say something like - "well they cost more but they've 100% uptime and they don't share power etc etc" but nobody did I think.

I think xsservers are really only good for "high bandwidth jobs" because to be fair to them, they give you what they promise on download speeds anyway! I was impressed when using them for xrumer.

For $75 per week you could get a Virtual Assistant to do everything for you. It includes services like SEnuke, SB and others. They run on fast VPS too.

Theres much more to look at than the price.

- Such as Support...
- Stability aka Uptime
- Is the Server Managed?
- Is it Oversold? Whats the CPU Load? ... etc

Is it working for you and is it worth the money you are paying for it? In other words if it is working and you are making bank then your good. VPS prices are all over the map. Some times you do pay more but you don't always get more for your money.

Usually when you pay less you get less such as over loaded server etc.

You can find companies that do custom packages if you look for them They can usually make it a lot cheaper than buying an over-spec'd VPS.

Problem with "cheaper" is that the companies dont stay in business for long because of the non-sustainable business model.

Examples: Hostrail, W2servers both gone out of business leaving customers deserted and out of money and VPS/Servers. Not to mention loss of business due to downtime.

I would stick with them, I have heard nothing but good reviews about xsserver. What I would say is that if you are trying to save a bit of money, you could speak with them and see if you can downgrade a bit - do you REALLY need 2gb ram? I am running tweetadder at xsserver and I have 512mb ram - Im never using more than 40% of that - its hardly demanding.

I can just see you moving to a cheap no thrills provider and then ending up with a rubbish service.

Check out Amazon's EC2. You could get almost same specs for a little over half if you pay up front.

Yup amazon are cheap - I use their s3 or whatever it is for backup storage it's so cheaP and you only pay for what you need.

I know you'll all disagree but its not really user friendly, I think there are advantages to using a vps provider.

Trust me I could pull up alot more links with positive reviews, that's why I chose them.
Anyway, your with them how have you found the service?

Besides you don't wanna be getting up in the morning and checking your server to find that it's crashed and your program ain't been running all night - that kept happening to me that's why I moved to xsserver.

To be honest I have few hosts now and here's my opinions -->>

xsservers --> 2gb ram on windows etc etc great but a little pricey. Had dedi with them aswell for xrumer... the thing was an animal! You get what you pay for with them.

volumedrive --> 2gb of ram on centos (cant use centos so no use to me... bought by mistake but the speed, price and service was really good if you want linux.

thrustvps -->I now have 2 x VPS which have 2gb ram etc etc etc with thrustvps, formally known as damnvps and I find the support and product very good. I haven't had it long enough to make an informed opinion but from what I can see very good stuff.

Ovh.ie --> I have a high end dedicated server with no management, its never been under any real pressure yet, but the spec and price is amazing. They're support is ok, but they're sales staff are idiots though. I have a dedi for like 75euro a month which really should be around 350euro a month, so OVH is a bargain but dont touch them if your a noob to servers, they wont help you for a second.

Godaddy --> Cheap, fast, and ask no questions, I have a porn with them and they never noticed yet.

Bluehost --> keep all my general websites on them, A+++ love them. I buy my domains in bulk through godaddy then move them across to bluehost because the domains are too dear with bluehost. They're online support has helped me so much I'll never move from them... ever!

Darkknight --> Had a big site with them years ago, it was slow to load. Only the programmer had any real contact with them so I can't comment anymore than that.
