This is totally a personal opinion. So please no offence and dont hate me for this
as there are more than 500000 members on BHW and you are one of the members who hate (because you neg rep them) newbies for their annoying posts like "good" , "nice" and all. I think instead of wasting your time in neg rep them you can send them a short message and guide them through.. that newbie would be really thankful to you for the rest of life (if he is a member for long term).
No offense but not only this would take more time but they would still not learn the lesson and expect to be spoonfed from there on
