Hi all.
So I have a PR2 domain. I was recently considering getting some guest bloggers to contribute to my blog for me. I would allow a few links, in exchange for an article that is likely to rank well, using longtail keywords and such, getting me more traffic and hopefully some cash, I have adsense on my blog.

What do you guys think? Is this a good/fair deal?

If I get positive feedback, I will respond to PM's as I see fit.

Guest bloggers are not going to jump on your offer based on PR. Experienced writers will look for potential traffic as well, what you have offer besides PR.

Don't put your hope too high. Their content may not rank as you think they would unless your blog is already authority in the field.

But yeah, it works.

I see what you're saying. I do have a few articles that rank pretty well. Like I said, I'm looking for long tail keywords. If your article ranks well, all the better for the both of us.

My blog is relatively new (10 months or so) and I have spent less than a quarter of that time actually putting effort into getting ranked. Just so everyone knows. Free backlinks on offer. Potential for good traffic. Take it or leave it :)

Can I ask what niche your blog is in? Or is it general subjects?

This will affect your potential for attracting guest bloggers.

When you say 'good traffic' - how much do you get on your 10 month old blog?
"Potential" for good traffic. I get very little traffic right now. My whole intention is to bulk up my blog with quality content, and increase the amount of traffic.

Generally I write about Graphic Design, Web Design, SEO, Social Media and I am considering Gaming as well.

Then, you will have a very hard time to get quality content on your blog. Try to increase your traffic and make yourself known. Then, people will consider to contribute.
Always remember - it must be a win-win situation :)
Best of luck!

I partly agree, you do have to make your blog attractive for guest bloggers. However, I should say that guest bloggers are also quite different in terms of the level of content they submit, using fake or real names, the sites they promote via guest blogging. I mean there are CEOs of large companies who guest blog on top sites, and there are people who sign their low-quality articles John Smith and you can clearly see from the content English is their second language. Thus, there are guest bloggers for sites of all types and levels, and there's definitely an audience for your site.

Just make sure you market the guest blogging opportunity on your site properly. Start with boards like myblogguest and submit a thread where you describe the type of content you're looking for. It's a crowded place, and you'll surely get many offers.

Also make sure you have a Write for Us (Guest Blogging Guidelines) section on your site, where you clearly set your submission criteria. This way you'll save a lot of time to people who are willing to write for you, and increase your chances of getting more guest writers, because people will also find you via search.

RE whether it's a good/fair deal. I'm positive it is, guest blogging is a widely accepted practice in web promotion industry today. Just read up more about how to do it the right way to make sure you're in line with the best industry practices.

Choose your guest bloggers wisely. You really don't want to have spammers on your site pretending to be guest bloggers. Treat your current readers with respect and only give them guest blogs that add value to what you are doing.

Thanks for the replies guys, I am currently experimenting with different ways of getting traffic, so I'm not in too much of a hurry to settle for 2nd language English, etc.

What is the niche?
Read up.

most guest bloggers wont reveal their true self. i dont know about you, but i generally refuse them if they dont give me their real name and email address. you need both in case you get hit with copyright infringement.

make sure the content fits in your niche. from what i have experienced i turn down more ppl because their content doesnt match with my websites niche. they waste their time, and mine. most dont read the rules of engagement and just want a backlink.

also, make sure you copyscape check their submission. ive caught a few over the years copying web content and pasting.

One tip, Go to Freelancer. Open a job for people to start writing articles for you.

Give them KW's and they will write excellent articles.

You will find that people there do great job's.

I have found some excellent article writers that will write amazing articles at very low cost.

My last purchase was excellent. I got 20 articles for $50 !!! Excellent content with pictures the works.

This is just to get your content going.

Soon you will have people that want to contribute to your site crawling over it.

but for the begining Buy content. If possible 30 articles a month. Then add 1 article to your site a day.
Do this for a year. and you will make that money back with adsense in the following year, maybe even faster.

Also sell things. If you are in the Webdesign etc like you said. find some nice Affiliate things to write about and review in your niche and write excellent articles
about it. (Outsource this ) also start building your list ( free gifts etc ) . Search comes to mind.

Make Bank.

i agree with what the above said freelancer is amazing for content just make sure you check it first thats the only advice you need.

You must write your self for the seo/web design, online stuff related content because it is related with your niche and you can write the best content, it will be well researched, well informative and most useful for visitors and based on your experience of years of work. And believe if the content is most qualitative, your efforts for seo and link building will be decreased and it will raise on google easily and quickly.

No content writer can replace you in your niche, despite being you do not have time for writing in your niche.

And i extremely do not like guest blogging now a days, because they are made for getting the links

Tks
