If you did have jedi-like powers, you'd be strapped to a cold metal bed right now. They'd be poking and prodding you with medical instruments until the cows come home!

That depends on whether your powers were mutation based or if you just got lucky when meditating. Sometimes esoteric memetical meditation (EMM) is enough to endow people with certain powers. For most people, these powers are hardly noticeable and even among those that do complete EMM properly (which usually requires special guidance under a highly skilled mentor) most wouldn't even know they have them because they hardly show up. They might find that they have an increased ability to understand people and their intentions, they might find that there general "luckiness" improves and they might find it easier to complete complex physical tasks.
Usually people only encounter improvement in one, maybe two, focused schools and usually their improvements are so small it might not even occur to them that the changes are a result of their meditation. Even if they do properly attribute the changes in their life to meditation, they might still think the EMM is a load of BS. They might continue to meditate but without the risks involved with esoteric memetical meditation. They will likely still see improvements in their lifestyle, meditation has been proven to improve focus, happiness and life in general, but the benefits reaped from EMM will disappear and they probably won't even notice it.
I would not go as far to say that you are a mutant however as most of the population can access the benefits of EMM though for some it comes more naturally. Everyone, with enough practice, can hone their EMM resonance level to at least Chevron 3 in some schools (Chevron 7 being the practical limit, naturally). At Chevron 3, the benefits of EMM will be clearly apparent to the student and they should be able to consciously invoke most of their abilities the majority of the time after proper preparation sessions.
I would not call you a mutant however as there's nothing unnatural about EMM, everyone can do it but for some it comes much easier. From what you've said, I'd wager that you're around Chevron 5 or 6. You should be more careful about who you show your powers to however, when unsheathed at Chevron 5, you are already pretty obvious to them but when you use your power recklessly your light up like Denver in mid April. Hopefully someone has properly taught you how to mind-sheathe and how to temper your abilities so that they're less obvious to them. It is also not unlike them to place traps in areas they know EMM users to reside and hope that some newbie will take the bait. You got lucky this time, but it's likely that the guy you talked to will be dead soon. Or worse of course.

I apologize if some of my threads come across as arrogant, I suppose reading them, they kinda look like that. But I'm not going to apologize for having paranormal abilities. Neither am I going to concede even 1 centimeter to any skeptic, not after I've posted videos, scientific papers, links to other credible psions, etc... Never.
