I recently had an account hit 100,000 followers so I decided to take a look into the analytics to see what I've been doing right and what I've been doing wrong. Over the past month the account has reached over 2,500,000 people on Twitter. The average engagement rate for a tweet without an image is 1-3%. The average engagement rate for a tweet WITH an image is 24%+! I've always had the mindset of mixing my content and I've enjoyed posting text status updates because that's what I've always done, but I will definitely be including an image in my 2-3 tweets daily across all of my accounts from this point forward. Anyone else noticed this on their accounts?
Posting a picture definitely increases the interaction a lot, not sure if it will stay like that if you post a picture with every post though, do it for a week or two and do let us know if it's still at 24%
Yeah, Facebook Page posts with images have traditionally gotten more reach than other post types. I have noticed an increase in reach links over the past few months though. I still like to mix my content types on FB. I believe there's something in the algorithm that choses what content type to display to the user based on what they're most likely to engage with, so if you're posting multiple content types you're more likely to hit a wider audience.
As I mentioned, this was based on data for the past month. I'll definitely keep my eye on it though. I should also mention I only post on my accounts 2-4 times a day. I think this peaks my audiences interest because they're not constantly getting spammed with my content.
Most people don't even look at Facebook posts without images, that's why I always post images along with my text. I didn't know that it is the same with Twitter though.
Yes picture definitely increases engagement, mainly because it's much easier to "read" than text (a picture tells a thousand words and all that). true though it's not like you can just post 20 pics a day and forget - otherwise your readers will just block it out subconsciously.
Yes. Tweeting a message with a picture is much better as we know a picture says more than 1000 words... Just be sure to write the message as good as you can and don't forget to place a link in a good position too!
I have a bunch of different sources I pull images from (I actually developed software to help with this), but my favorite is probably Tumblr. There is a cool free site I use to create images as well. Google "Try Spruce"
Absolutely. 2-4 times a day and a pic. Even when you want to give out textual info, putting that up in a pic helps more.
