Always be a loser compared with amazon?

Hey guys, I have some EMD sites that sell the products on amazon and earn money by amazon affiliate, long time ago( about 1-2 years ago ), one of my site got #3 on the first page, and the #1 I remember is the brand site of the product, #2 is the amazon product site. Now I dropped in #6 because I stop building links for them.

I just want to know that have you guys succeed to beat the amazon product site or the brand site?

If you're optimizing your pages, and making sure your site is staying on target and really focusing hard on your niche/keywords, you can easily beat out big-box sites for the keyword.

You need to make sure your site is VERY focused though

I'm in a similar position so also interested in hearing some answers. Wikipedia is the number 1 for my keyword I'm wondering if I can beat it.

yes, I only focus on the main product keywords, but I am afraid that the brand site will charge me if I got #1 because my domain contain their brand.
