What to use now ?

I was using traffic travis which was using Yahoo site explorer
Im pretty much dead here now

I use a combination of G00gle Keyword Tool & Market Samurai. G00gles tool is free, and so is MS.

Open Site Explorer is pretty good for a free user.

Market Samurai is based on YSE, which was what we are discussing got shut down in this thead.

Google Keyword tool is for keyword research, nothing to do with backlinking.

I think you may be confused with what YSE is.
 
You can check the PR of the backlinks manually with scrapebox. I dont know if that helps, just a thought.

Opensite explorer works out pretty much but i cant check the PR easily but NVM
 
There arent many good free options. I tried using the SEOSpyglass now which is good. It uses different sources for links, and then checks those urls to see if the links are on them.

Others are paid or don't provide good data.
 
I think there should be an update in scrapebox for this

Majestic SEO is good which is what Market Samurai uses now. They do leave a free option to check how many backlinks your site has.
 
Have you guys tried Majestic SEO? This one is what I'm using for checking the number of backlinks to my website. I do believe that you guys may find this online tool as a perfect replacement for the now defunct Yahoo Site Explorer.
