alternative to placing code in blog template

Forgive my ignorance if this seems like an asinine statement, but wouldn't it be more effective to simply place your affiliate link in the video code or within the video somehow as opposed to editing the blog template as it applies to the youtube money making method that HaRRo spoke of?

Just asking ....
