Does anybody know of an alternative to OpenX?

It needs to be able to handle the delivery of around 4 million leaderboard impressions a month.

You can use doubleclick from Google... It's free till 90 mil monthly impression.... There are several other good options available in market from paid to free ones...

I've explored doubleclick before and found it quite hard to join the exclusive DART club + it's pricey.

I'm beginning to think that OpenX although a bit basic might be the best tool for the job. Would you mind listing a few more online advertising big player names?

    Thanks bizroot

openx does the job if you have a good server and you can make your own plugins... shrug works well for me

I have tried openX on not so good server and it crashed 2-3 times.
Server admins asked me to move this insert heavy software to another server or buy bigger hosting service from them

DoubleClick and OpenX are two major free adserver solution... If you will read through guidelines you can setup easily or take help from free lancers... If you
want easy solution then you will have to pay and there are lots of options for this...

if you plan to do your own hosted openx, yes, you really should have a dedi for it, if you do though, it can scale pretty damm well with how its coded

honestly most of the self hosted solutions suck and if you go with someone else for it you are stuck with their setup and cant customize yourself... granted that may not be an issue for you personally but for me i have to be able to adjust things with demand and new techniques etc, i actually use openx then funnel it through prosper202 (so both are tracking) since openx is better for some stuff and p202 for others

just my 2c, yes it does cost me some server grunt to do it, but i get some pretty wicked stats outta it
