I believe adding lawyer, forex or other high paying words, doesn't really have any effect, because the ads that are displayed are usually related to the latest searches on google from your computer/account.
For example if I've been searching dog whistles the last few days, when I go to youtube and watch a video about forex, I would probably get an ad related to my search.
As for your success OP, grats mate. Keep it up and scale it if possible(it's always possible

I've been setting my sights on youtube for years now, but I'm always missing something. I have some decent ideas, but they involve either a lot of work(sadly I bearly have any free time), or aren't original enough and it feels like a huge risk.

The most popular vloggers on YT own million dollar companies nowadays, owning multiple channels, 300k+ views per video they upload, usually 1 a day per account. And ofcourse...merchandise and whatnot.

Interesting read.
I know for a fact that deFranco's company makes way over 1 mil a year. A couple of hundred a year making 100k? Pretty sure as of 2013 you can add another zero to that.

Don't bother with adding the bullshit attorney, etc... I tried the whole shebang and added my own high value keywords and both my income AND traffic dropped. Switched it back and I already made more though this halfday than I did the last 2 days combined. Sorry.

If your keyword tags do not relate to your audience it will not change your earnings. If someone is interested in say "lawyers" trust that they have already searched Google for that term..hell they probably landed on your video from searching "lawyer". So when they take a look at your video and Google serves up attorney ads they are more prone to click on them. In order to earn descent you must keep your channel niched out or have a billion viewers.
