Here are the main points:

→ Hundreds (or thousands) of pages with low engagement. → Few pages per session. → Low time on page. → Low number of clicks from browsing to ads.

Traffic shouldn’t be your main factor; engagement is what really matters.

A simple analogy: If 100,000 people enter a store and only 10 make a purchase, that store has attracted the wrong audience.

Main reasons for this situation:
→ No content quality control. → No objective view of what “good” content is. → No way to manage content clusters.

How to fix it?
- Export data from GSC (monthly) for the last 16 months.
- Filter by top-performing pages.
- Accept the click losses before and after March.
- Identify URLs with the biggest losses.
- Extract GA4 data for engagement and conversions.
- Check queries for these pages.
- Start planning to remove the most irrelevant pages.
- The issue likely lies within these pages, as they likely have poor links, low country-specific traffic, and provide zero value overall.

Your goal is to attract engaged users.

How to achieve that is a whole other topic, but here’s your starting point.

Google is getting smarter no doubt. Probably, they're using conversion rate as one of the ugc signals for ranking.

People keep coming up with reasons about why they think their rankings are dropping or what google is doing and though most of the reasons are true to some degree but we keep ignoring the big picture.

Google is driving traffic away from small bloggers and publishers to the big corporate giants and those giants in turn invest and send money back to google in the form of ads and contracts. This has been gradually going on for at least a decade and will continue to happen no matter what. Google is a business and their only goal is to maximize their profits, they dont give as shit about good content or helping people by providing most relevant content in search. So your blogs and sites will keep losing traffic no matter what you do.

Meanwhile Google keeps small guys busy trying to improve their content/websites and making sure their websites are following best seo practices and are up to date with ever changing google algorithm updates and rules.

all of this just to train their AI that steals content from us anyway. As I've said many times before, Google are a mafia company that's run by world scale gangsters. I am grateful more and more each day that I've had the strength to pull out of their claws and live a stress-free life...

how? did you stop working with blogs and seo?

I know a big site that dependant on user submitted content that completely got killed by the update . They lost all traffic and discontinued all paid oppurtunities for contributors on site.

yep! Sold my sites January 2022 and will not get back into SEO until other search engines (more than 1) grab at least 40-50% of market share from google. Until then I'm living the life :)
That time is coming quicker then you think. With the google search quality going to shit and other search engines implementing AI and other improvements its only a matter of time before google starts losing market share and hopefully burns to the ground. I have a website where 70% of my traffic is coming from bing, yahoo, duckduckgo and yandex etc and only 10% from google and the quality of traffic is better then google.

one can only hope...

amen, brother! But I don't like the AI, I was using DDG until 2 days ago when I noticed they've implemented AI and they've asked for feedback so I told them to go to hell because if one idiot (google) implements AI this doesn't mean that everyone should be retarded sheep and implement AI too.

And after this feedback I instantly switched over to Ecosia and Qwant (although, I still use google occasionally, I'm not gonna lie.... but it's like 10 times a month or so, which might seem a lot but when you consider that I use search engines dozens of times a day 5-10 times a month doesn't seem like a lot anymore :) )

Anyway, this AI madness (and the EV madness too) will blow up in the next 3-5 years.... at least I hope that it does because if it doesn't blow up, God help us all considering the latest inventions and improvements in every field are in the hands of aggressive psychopaths who hate humans and worship the dollar....

hell yeah! Finally some good news :)

Thank you this information was helpful

One of the reasons not to focus on Google traffic only. Google rankings mean nothing if the traffic does not convert.

where did you see this? I saw some sites very well crafted and useful that were dropped recently

and the pattern I saw is - poor UX - low frequency of updates

Preach brother. With the current drama going on with with wordpress and its founder its scary to think that 40% of website on the internet are in the hands of a single psycopath who can block youe acces anytime and bring down your business as he is doing right now with wpengine. I hope all of these psychos crash and burn with their AI automation and sustainable shit that is just a new way to impose control and slavery on the masses.
