    Hey all,

I am developing this application for facebook. User's need to give acces to their e-mail before playing the app. I have their e-mailaddresses.

Is it allowed by facebook to email those people with promotional offers from amazon or something like that?

    Thanks for your time!

Facebook says "Don't spam users.". They don't say "Don't email users". Interpretation is up to you. I always include a simple "Click here to unsubscribe" active link at the end of the email in a slighly smaller font size, but not too small. If you click on it you will be automatically unsubscribed. No questions asked, no need to be logged in, no need to confirm your identity, email, whatever (all of this can be done using some secret variable embedded in the unsubscribe link).

You don't want to email users who don't want to hear from you. Maintain your own suppression list and never email users who have unsubscribed, even if you get their email again from another app (i.e. global suppression). You will realise that a very small percentage of users unsubscribe, unless you send them more than 1 email per day. Also, using this approach will considerably decrease spam complaints or "mark as spam" actions. Make it clear for users that they can always stop receiving messages from you with a simple click of a button. Users that unsubscribe will never convert, so you shouldn't care about losing them.
