Would turning off the skip ad function when monetizing your video mean your will get potentially more money? As the watcher is forced to view the whole advert?

Potentially. But in reality it would just piss people off and they won't watch your other videos, so you would lose money in other aspect.

Is that how it works? If you uncheck the skip ads does it mean pre-roll ads play, but the viewer can't skip?

Don't do that you will lose many viewers, and you will not make good subscribers

To be honest, despite viewship retention as they speak of. You need to test if that will make or lose ad revenue for you.

If your videos are a step above the other vids for tut's or whatever your niche may be. Then they might stick if you are making very comprehensive videos that are of high quality. If you are making standard regular guy tutorials, then you might get seen as just another video by a viewer and might see a better looking video in the recommended videos.

hard to split test this, but I would just stick to leaving skip on. makes much more sense imo. put out good and you'll get good back
