Just trying to figure this out. I see everyone has multiple websites, to make money?? How? Is there something being sold on these sites? Or is it just marketing? Or buying and reselling for a profit? I am trying to grasp the whole concept, but I am new to this type of thing, i would like to make money with my sites too. ( I have a few domains with godaddy) if someone could explain it to me or point me in the right direction (for reading) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

All of the above.

Some websites make money from Advertising (pay per view or pay per click), some make money by selling stuff, some make money by linking to affiliates which pay commissions on sales, some make money selling links, some make money selling a product or service directly.

For each of the above, you can build the website yourself, you can buy and sell the website, etc.

I am puzzled...why would you buy multiple domain names before knowing why people buy multiple domain names?

I actually have a couple of sites that I have owned for a year or so with godaddy. I was selling a product and my other one was parked. It is time for my renewal and I ended up searching online for other options, which lead me here. And I have been reading some info about making money with sites or people getting multiple sites to drive traffic to and make money. I was wondering how this works so maybe I could put my other site to use.

thanks

I have a total of 700 websites, and somewhere around 1000 parked domains, at last check. I pick up deleted domains with high traffic or ones the owners simply forgot to renew and park them and make cash through parking systems. And occasionally sell them back to the owners for a tidy sum of profit. And as far as your question about why so many sites, There isnt much reason to be in this if you aren't making money, at least in my opinion anyways lol. I started out just like you, came into the game and new NOTHING. Started reading everything I could started buying domains, hired outsourced programmers and developers, and along the way learned alot on my own. Just starting out it's alot to take in, and when I started 12 years ago it was a hell of lot more simple then it is nowadays. Just don't jump in and think your going to be able to quit your day job anytime soon it takes a few years of alot of sleepless nights to really get rolling. But honestly once you make your first dollar, you will be hooked! 12yrs later I'm making around $600,000 per year gross with about $450,000 take home. You can make yourself one hell of a life on the net if you stick with it. Your going to have 100 failures for every 1 success.

Wow, thanks for the information. I have been reading these forums and it is a lot to take in, being a newbie. Even though i have been reading it seems like everything pulls me in different directions, some say affiliate sites, others say buy sites and sell, and then there is the actual selling of products. I am trying to grasp the whole concept and maybe it all goes hand in hand. I was thinking of buying an ebook but it looks like all of that infomation may be here, i just have to find it..lol.

Thanks for the information.
